Question A couple questions.

I'm a rather new Scion owner. I worked for Toyota from '03-'05 as a dealership trade driver. I transported vehicles back and forth between dealerships (Just for clarity: If someone came in and wanted a Toyota vehicle with certain options our dealership didn't have, we'd take a vehicle from our lot of equal value to trade with another dealership for the model the buyer wanted.) So I got to drive individual vehicles back and forth all over the state - and usually delivered pre-purchased vehicles that we're bought through Autoland. Time to time I'd get the chance to drive or pick-up a xA or an xB. Then finally came the tC, and I had the chance to drive the first one our dealership received. The look of the car caught my attention immediately, then the interior and sound. I had a blast throwing around that manual shifter up to a facility two hours away. And to my sad disapointment, found out I was delivering it to a Crash-Test facility...where it would be smashed to bits for safety tests. I wanted to steal it and take it home. This was the first release of the tC. Then I had the oppertunity to drive a few 05 tC models the following year, falling in love with the car even more.

So, with the option of having an employee discount and all, I decided to spring for a tC of my own and bought the first '06 tC that came on the lot. It was a dark cherry (I liked the color as was, but I also didnt have much of an option of chosing another as it would've been awhile before we got another delivered to the dealership.) and it already had the iPod 6-speaker upgrade installed. The auto-dim mirror. And several other extras on it. It was only on the lot for five mintues before I snatched it up

So, long story now over (Sorry about that!), its about five months old now. I don't have a problem with the stock stereo in it, as it sounds rather well to me. However, I have a Sony Explode 1200w Amp with two 10" Sony Explode subwoofers that I had in my previous car that I would like to install in my Scion. I have someone who could install the subwoofers for me, but Im curious as to how difficult it could be if I was to do it myself. I believe there would have to be an aftermarket part for purchase, as Im sure there's the stock amplifier/wiring that would have to be by-passed in order for the subs to work correctly. Im also a little paranoid about tearing apart the dash to run the wiring to the head unit.

Im not well informed when it comes to the wiring configuration in this tC. So I was wondering if anyone had any sort of diagram, or could explain how to go about adding subs to the stock stereo? The wiring coding, and what exactly needs to be torn apart, and if theres an aftermarket by-pass needed.

I have done minor upgrades to my pervious car, but outside of that, Im not real inclined when it comes to full blown stereo upgrades. I like the stock head unit in the tC for its display, and the iPod function...but I was also concidering adding a DVD player with a screen in the car sometime later on. However, I wanted to do this without disabling or removing the stock stereo. Anyone have any ideas of a possible after market DVD player/Screen kit that can be intalled, while the stock head unit continues to function?

Installing the subs are my first mission, Im just curious for the long run about a DVD system.

Thanks for taking the time to read through this long post.

Wow, nice novel, haha. Welcome to the club. PM me your email and I'll send you the instructions for hooking up the bazooka sub that Scion offers. I'm pretty sure it's going to be the same. I can't really help you with the other stuff as I'm not that great with audio. I'm sure someone here can help you though.
