I do mine every 3000, but with cars and oil now days you will be fine with 5000. I just like to keep my engine real nice, since i drive my car pretty hard.

every 3000 and mobil 1 FTW! (should've never learned what FTW means! cant stop using it!)

but i plan on keepin mine forever. there's been much debate reecently on 3, 5, or even 10,000 mile oil changes. you wont hurt it doin it every 3 or 5 im sure

Unless you are using motor oil that was bottled 10 years ago you are wasting money and hurting the environment by doing it every 3K. Stick with 5K.

i dunno. for me, i've gotten comfortable doing it that way. it's routine. get up in the morning and do your routine backwards, or push everything back an hour. you'll feel different. until i see legit research that says every 3000 is harmful to my engine, i dont think i'll change...

I WISH!!! but point taken... to an extent.

i play playstation now cuz of the technological advances making for better and more enjoyable gameplay compared to the atari. if they come out with substantial research long-term saying that over ther lifespan of an engine, changing the oil every 5 is beyond a shadow of a doubt better than every 3, i'll willingly conform. but for now, it depends on who you talk to and who's trying to sell you what.

speaking of atari... aol had a stupid top 10 list (most of their top lists are just some random person's opinion and not actual research) of the best video game consoles ever - and atari WASN'T ON IT!!! neither was the Wii: two of the most revolutionary consoles ever

anyway, yea motor oil every 3 vs every 5...

You can do the research yourself fairly easily. All you have to do is take a sample of your oil and send it out to get analyzed. They will tell you all the contents of your oil. Then post your results on that forum I linked to a few posts ago and they will tell you what it all means.
