i was wondering about HID's for my tc. the other week i was talking to my dealership guy and i was asking him about putting hid's on my tc. he told me that HID's is to high of a voltage to be going through the wiring and that it would burn it or some s**t like that, anyways is that true? and does anyone have HID's on there tc?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but HID's use less power than regular Halogen bulbs he may have been talking about when the HID's ignite, they use about 40,000 volts to ignite then go down to almost nothing. I went with a kit from mobilehid.com and couldn't be happier with it. The kit comes with everything including a relay

Hids actually use 12 volts like your regular lights, but pull a lower wattage. A good quality kit won't burn your harness.

The ballast does run off of a 12 volt line, but when turned on it uses high voltage pulses to create the arc. Even when first turning on the current draw is low though.

Late model Toyotas don't require the upgrade relayharness included with some HID kits. Toyos have each lamp separately fused. This is true for the Scions fused at 10AMPS each.

Most kits are your basic 35w kit. there is no need to upgrade the harness. i even dare to say that 50w will be fine with a relay. its really only after 55w that you have to add resistors, harness, etc. Whatever you do make sure that the kit is digital and not analog. If its analog they are more prone to safety cutoffs. (the light will ignite but immediately shut off or shut off after a period of time) These cutoffs can damage the bulb. Other than that add a 20 amp fuse and have fun picking a color.

    4300k- bright
    5000k- brighter
    6000k- cool
    8000k- cooler
    10000k and up = tickets

    enjoy
