Default Redline Durabilitry of 09 tC

Hey there, ive owned the car for eight days now and already have 1,050 miles!

I want to drive this car like a regular commuter car, but also want to treat it like the sporty vehicle that it is designed to be. How bad is it to race/ redline etc? It would never be a continous thing, just something for fun that I would do every now and then with friends, where I want to make an impression. I know the vehicle is made by the ledegendary toyota brand, but I just want to check.

    Thanks

It does stress the engine more, but it can take plenty of it. These are pretty solid engines, hence why Toyota is putting them in a lot of their vehicles.
You are better off shifting before redline anyway, I usually shift between 5500 and 6000.

Yep, your not going to hurt a stock motor hitting the rev limit. I believe that this is a combination fuel cut/ignition cut that keeps the motor from leaning out or being too rich causing a backfire. The OEM ECM is not going to let you kill the motor. If you abuse it continually, it will drop you down into limp mode to protect itself. Toyota knew that teh majority of the owners are going to be 1st time drivers/owners. The Scion brand would have bombed if the motors were breaking down because of overly spirited drivers.
