    Default Turn off stock sub

Hello all, 3 week old tC owner here... I have throughly looked through my manual for my pioneer radio, and owners manual and cant find out how to turn off the sub from the stock radio head unit... not the upgraded system... I know that if you have the upgraded system, you hold the menu button when the car is off to change the sub on or off, but the stock pioneer radio does not have a menu button.. please help me... I show my dad my new car next week and he is a police officer... I want to leave a good impression when I take him for a spin... not a headache and a teenage appearance when I turn on the radio.

Just turn the bass down to like -5.

Go to under your trunk mat where the sub is and disconnect it. I totally forgot about that. Its a white clip and just pull it apart. When your done driving with your dad just plug it back in.

It's also not that difficult (depending on the quality of how your unit was fabricated, as I had to return my first one) to just pull the speaker cover off and turn the gain down. When you're done, turn it back up and put the cover on using a rubber mallet to tap into place.

But, if you have a plastic tool or sturdy plastic knife, you can pry the cover off with relative ease. I've had to do it several times already myself to mess with the first defective unit I had.

But, turning the bass down ahead of time to negative 5 like someone else mentioned gets almost the same effect...

Yah, just put the base at negative 5 and it worked fine, he was very impressed by the car, but said if he saw a 20 year old like me driving a sporty coupe with a spoiler and red calipers, I would be 3 times more likely to get a ticket from him, lol

Wish there was a real way to turn it on or off like the upgraded system... but thats what I get I guess for buying other options in place of the upgraded unit!

    Yeah...

What are the other advantages to the other upgraded stereo though? It has satellite radio, which I don't need, but what else?

It didn't really seem adventagous to me for the money, but then I guess I didn't really understand what it was all about.

There is no difference in quality from what I understand.. same speakers, same sub, the only difference is the ability to add your own sub if you choose, and have a much nicer head unit.. may be wrong but thats what ive heard

That's what I thought, that it was basically just a fancier looking head unit, satellite radio ability and your own sub ability.

I'd rather put my money into other things on the car, honestly.

Set your radio mode to xB in the hidden menu for some extra thump. xA will give you a more tonal quality for muddy, less-responsive bass. I believe that it is activated by holding the SSP button for about 3-5 seconds. I maybe wrong but that is what I remember.

Dude, you were right. Both the XA and DB settings are MUCH clearer and less muddy than the TC setting.

The XB setting has a tad more thump I think, but both are much crisper than the TC setting.

    Thanx!

    Any other secrets?

Exclamation Warning! Seriously Lame Joke Ahead

    Do this...

    Key in Accessory
    hatch open
left blinker (5 blinks) while holding the driver's seatbelt release button
    honk the horn twice
flash the brights once, wait 10 seconds, then flash twice
    now turn your radio on
    tune to AM 560
set all presets to this station
    insert a cd
now turn the ignition key off

    result........

a complete waste of your time!

Sorry, couldn't resist. Actually, that is the only easter egg that I know of that is worth anything of value.

LOL, you had me going there for a second man.

I have to thank you again though man, since changing my stereo setting based on your tip, I am MUCH happier with my sound. And the Bazooka actaully sounds like it's doing something worth while. That setting compliments it a lot more.

No Prob. For that reason, it was hard to remove my OEM unit. The xB setting made by big 10" kick arse.

Yeah, for sure. I could see that.

I really like that XB setting quite a bit. I can't believe the difference. I owe you a huge thank you!
