what's up everybody

This is a discussion on what's up everybody within the General Discussion forums, part of the Scion tC category; I'm desperately looking around Long Island for nice mods. I generally want a body kit, a muffler, rims, mostly exterior. ...

I am not from that area, but I can give you my opinion on a few things, from experience and from hours and hours and hours of research...

Body kits; the most well made qaulity brand body kit out there for the TC in my opinion is the Kaminari kit. It is also pretty cool looking. They are a very reputible brand as well. I do not have it, but I wanted it (I have the TRD Body Kit), but I wanted it and researched it extensively.

Muffler; what are you looking for, if you're not looking for performance. Do you just want something that sounds cooler that the OEM? What do you currently have?

All the body kit you need is a lip kit... and for that you should go for:

    5 Axis

I mean, you are gonna go ballin' go all the way. Don't half ass it.

Get a Magnaflo muffler... or a Borla.

I honestly could not tell much difference between the OEM lip kit and the 5 axis.

What's the difference in appearance? Do you have it?

Matter of opinion I guess. I think it's one of the cooler ones available. Especially for the reputation of the quality Kamanari has. Depends on what kind of look you prefer I guess. There are tons out there. Stay away from fiberglass though. Not nearly as durable.

As far as exhaust, I agree with what the other guys are saying. If you're just looking for something that sounds a bit cooler than OEM exhaust, go with some type of axelback. Injen, Magnaflow, Borla, TRD, etc... I had the TRD and it was simply eye candy and added a bit of sound. Was happy with it until I wanted more performance so I took it off.

I heard how a Magnaflow muffler sounds and its pretty nice. The Borla ones sound hot too. I'm all for looks. I mean I love speed too but I ain't planning on racing my car. In general, I want a body kit, rims, window tints, a wing, etc. I basically browse Andy's Autosport. Is that a reliable website?

Which is better? TRD, Borla, Magnaflow, or Injen? I listened to all of them and they practically sound the same. And is there a way I can listen to how a model sounds before I buy it? I don't wanna buy a muffler that ends up sounding like ****.

If I'm not mistaken, TRD and Borla are pretty much the same, they look the same and sound the same, I read somewhere even though its TRD that is is made by Borla and stamed with the TRD logo, someone help me out here if I'm wrong.

o ok. I want something that sounds loud but smooth. Something that'll make my car even hotter. I'm steering more towards Magnaflow at the moment.

Another thread, from bdis3, had a comparison between magnaflow and agency power. Me thinks you want the latter.

Agency is some serious $$$$. I almost got their cat back, but ended up deciding on the Megan because it was literally about HALF the price. It's a very nice product though.

As far as TRD muffler being the same as Borla, that sounds familiar. I think I had heard something like that before as well. I'll ask my friend at the Toyota dealer to confirm.

TRD defintely sounds smooth. As far as being "loud", it depends on what you consider loud. When I had the TRD exhaust I THOUGHT it was pretty loud. But since I replaced the header and cat back exhaust, I realize that the TRD exhaust was just remotely loud in comparison to the rediculously offensive loud set up I have now.

The TRD exhaust will give you some extra volume, but not much. It has a nice sublte deep tone to it. Not overly noticible, but I liked it at the time. I'm sure there are louder axle backs out there. Depends on what you're going for.

Best thing to do is join some sort of club that meets regularly so you can check out what other people have to compare to. I found that pretty helpful. You can't check things out really before you buy them because most parts are mail order. Once you put something on your car, nobody's going to let you send it back because you were just "trying it out".

Get out there and see what some other people have on their car. Sometimes I'll even just be on the street and see someone on the road with a TC with something I like. I'm not shy about rolling down the window and sparking up a conversation about what he's got. Most people are eager to brag about their goods and it's a good way to learn and compare to what you have or what you are thinking about getting.

    That's what I do anyways.

Hahaha. I always think about doing that. I'll see a hot tC and wonder if I should ask them where they got their ****. lol. About the club though, how do I find out about them? I've always wanted to go to a club meeting once, along with a few friends of mine. Just would like to show off our whips and get some advice lol.

You'll just have to search the internet. There are tons of clubs out there. It's just a matter of finding one you like and one that has members/meetings in your area.

This is one I found. I am from Chicago, and the Chicago area members meet regularly. Check and see if they have members in your area:

My bad I haven't been on in a while people. Been mad busy. But I just got a couple new mods for my tc. Put grills and tints on so far. Got bumper lips but haven't gotten them painted and installed yet. And I'm planning on buying a Megan catback very soon.

Good choice man. Like I said eariler, that's what I put on about a month ago, and I LOVE that damn thing. It's very reasonably priced for what you get and in comparison to similar CatBacks.

    Very easy to install too.

And SO loud. But with a nice deap, rich tone and a nice mean rumble at low idle.
