Default Thinking about getting a Scion TC

Im 17 and my parents told me they will get me a car for college. I really want one of these but im still debating this and the Mitsubishi Lancer. Im not asking which is better because I know the answer I will get on this site lol. Im not really a car/mechanical genious but I have been on this site reading about all the stuff you can do to the car to make it faster but I still have a few questions.
    1. Should I get an auto or manual?(Im going to the University of Florida if that makes a difference) ive never driven a manual so im still unsure
    2. How much are turbos and does it just increase the hp or does it also increase torque?
    3. Is there enough room to put in like 2 12' subs and maybe a 3000 watt amp?
    4. What else can I do to this car to make it fast and fun to drive?

all the help and relpies are apreciated
    btw sorry its so long

turbos are quite expensive. it increases hp and torque. 3 12's would rattle your car apart, but do what you wish. Get the 5 speed, and dont get any options from TRD they usually kill you on the prices. any other questions just pm me. welcome.

    1. Manual.
    2. bdis3 just got a turbo for his. The kit that he got probably ran about $4,100 without install. Most turbo kits range from $3,500 to $4,300. It will increase both horsepower and torque.
    3. Probably, but it just seems like overkill in such a small space.
    4. That all depends on how fast you want to go and how much fun you want to have while going fast...

    Thanks for your replys
140-150 would be a good top speed but idk if the TC can take that. What are some of the top speeds on the TCs here?
one thing i am also worried about is that the manual will become more of a hassle(i have heard it from more than one person) does it get annoying after a while. With the turbo will I be able still get up to around 140-150?

You will never get that kind of speed unless you have a stand-alone ECU. Stock Tc's are limited to about 130mph. Turbo cannot make the top speed higher, it will just get you there quicker.

Manual can become tiresome after an hour in traffic, but once you get on the highway and on backroads, it makes it sooo worth it. Trust me. Alot of guys are on here that have automatics and regret it.

I'm thinking closer to $3,000. They are very expensive and they CAN be woth the money if you get them set up right. You would need to find a quality tuner to make sure there would be no problems. I don't personally have one, but I would say that a turbo is worth it.

All of us at some point didn't know anything about cars lol. We're here as a community to help each other.
