Default reset maintenance required light on 2005 scion tc.

Hi.I'm new here.I have read and followed the instructions for this on these forums.Light still will not reset.
Prior to this,I had the oil and filter changed when the light went on initially.
It did not go off after the change.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Glad that you got it cleared, but you should always have a the code scanned whenever you have a MIL. You never know what it may be. Autozone will do this for free and can even clear the MIL. Some codes will actually clear themselves if the problem resolves itself.

You can actually change when the light will come on. When you reset the system, I believe 5 lines with show up and flash while the system is resetting. Make sure you hold down the trip button until all the lines go away and you are left with your odometer. That will be the setting for 5,000 miles. If you release the button before all the lines go away, however many that went out will be your mileage. The dealer is trying to scew you. They think that if the maintenance required light comes on, you will run to them to check it out. By the way, the light will flash a few times on start-up starting 500 miles before you actually HAVE to get it done. After 500 miles, it will remain solid while you are driving.

Ok, I just realized that we are talking about the maintenance req'd light that is standard on most Toyotas. Here I thought you had asked about the maintenance indicator light. My bad, I feel like such a dork.

It's cool, Navy. At least everone here is pretty knowledgeable. Just think, he could have gotten alot of BS answers...Hmm...I'm thinking maybe a write up for the tech section? I see that we don't have one yet. Maybe something to do when I get home.

Nevermind. I found it. It was posted in the "general automotive" section. Should be moved to the knowledgebase.
