Scion tc 2005-2009 . Hi I was wondering how many miles or gas will be left once the low fuel light goes on?
I believe it to be roughly 3 gallons of fuel remaining when the light goes on.
Can I ask WHY anyone would want to know this information? I don't let my car get below a quarter of a tank...

Cos you can go more, dumb dumb!

I've done the math and it comes on at 12 gallons. We have 14.5 gallon tanks. I normally go with a lower estimate as to how many more miles you can go but it's generally another 60 or so. Just be careful cos that's not TOO good for your car. I did it a lot over this past summer when gas prices were $4 a gallon.

I'm the dumb-dumb? You were the one sucking up dirt from the bottom of your fuel tank by running it down so low lol

Whatever. Gas was SUPER expensive then.

I know. I struggled through it. I still never let it get below 1/4 tank.

Yeah well not all of us have good, legit jobs.

True. But think of it this way, the more you keep it topped off, the more you save per paycheck.

Ok but you can still go with what's in your gas tank.

I know you can, but you risk sucking up any kind of dirt that may be on the bottom of the fuel tank.

Yeah you have a point. HAHAHAHAHA terrible story. I had to push my car to a gas station once over the summer. Luckily, I was 100 feet away from it. It was LUCKY. My friend just reminded me of that.

Democratic Apples? What's the World coming too? I suppose that is Republican jerky; old and tough?I likes me sum jerky.
justplayxtragic's estimate is right on the money. I believe the Owner's Manual stated 2 gallons which is about standard for most cars. My Tundra has about 6 gallons left when the light comes on. My Camry has about 3.5 gallons.
As for trash in the tank, I can say that my tank was clean and the filter was empty at 47K miles. Of course, I never buy fuel under the following conditions when possible:
* From an old, value priced gas station although their tanks may have been pulled and replaced.
* Any station currently receiving fuel. A fuel truck pumping gas into the station's tanks are bound to stir up any sediments that may be in those tanks. Most gas stations have inline filters at the pumps but I would not count on it at a value priced location.
* Any station with slow pumps or the pumps surge when another person is clicking the handle on-off as if topping-off. This means the inground tanks are low and could introduce debris if, again, the pump filters are improperly maintained.
* Any gas station near a large body of water. Older inground tanks could have water seeping into the tanks. Water may get into the tanks from the vents. This is usually not a problem nowadays but ya never know. Water in fuel makes a car run erradict.
* Although the vast majority of gasoline at any gas station comes from the same refinery/pipeline, value priced stations could be selling an inferior blend of gas.
* I also don't buy gas on a Thursday wearing plaid and penny loafers. That just ain't right!

But you have in fact bought it on Tuesday wearing plaid and penny loafers? WHERE WERE YOU ON THE NIGHT OF THE 15TH!
Was it a full moon?

Yes, but we matched the DNA from the loafers at the crime scene to you.
But anywas, yes gas. Should be around two gallons, but as mentioned above, you dont want it to get that low for alot of reasons.
