question regarding scion tc

My friend recently bought a tc and we were talkin about it and started to have this arguement on whether tc is a coupe or hatchback. They asked me how i define a hatchback. So i said, trunk that has glass + no separation between backseat and trunk. Sure enough they showed me and it fits my description. Im sure ive read somewhere that says its a coupe and a few car selling websites saying its a coupe including the official scion site("The tC takes the classic definition of a sports coupe and reinvents it completely. Consider the sleek exterior styling of a coupe, but with the hidden convenience of a hatchback"). Then i asked a few of my friends that are into cars or have some knowledge about them on whether tc a coupe or hatchback and give a description of a hatchback. They ALL said coupe and said pretty much the same thing, no separation.. etc. which fits tc being a hatchback...

Sorry about the really weird question, it's really bothering me because im suppose to be one of the guys that know more about cars in that group. I know that if i dont prove that im right that i will get flamed a lot later when im with them

You are 100% correct.. the TC is a hatchback, but the great thing about it is that it looks just like a coupe. Hell, even my rx7 is a hatchback. tell ur friend he lost and he owes you money for a lost bet.

I also agree that the TC is a hatchback, but people use the word coupe so much when they are talking about 2 door cars that it is pretty much accepted.
