5th gear pop-out

    Default 5th gear pop-out

    i drive a camry with a 5-speed and for about a week,i could watch the shifter move forward and backward with throttle inputs in 5th gear.now it pops out.im thinking powertrain mount?opinions?personal experience?

    The first thing I would do is check the gear oil. Then check the linkages and the bushings. If neither of those are your problem, it may be a synchronizer going bad. The shifter moving back and forth is normal. At least I hope it is. Mine does it all the time.

    i checked the gear oil and boy is it full of metal.
