    Default best oil?

Hi all, I'm about to do my first oil change (approaching 5k miles and fast!) and i'm just wondering what i should do oil wise and oil filter wise.

Like should i go normal oil or synthetic
Which company to get (i live in maryland, so i get a mix of all sorts of weather)

Should i get a new oil filter yet
    If so, which company
and what type (performance, or whatnot).

    Thanks!
btw. i'm like any other teen driver. i punch my gas pedal everytime i want to go so yes, i drive my car like its a race car.

I'm of the understanding that you always change your oil and oil filter together. I use Mobil 1 oil and filter every 3K. If money is a factor, Mobil 1 is usually on the pricey side compared to Pennzoil, Quaker State, etc. My 06 tC has +65K miles on it and is nearly flawless.

Ease off the pedal once in a while!

Try and go full synthetic if you have the money for it, but be sure to drain all the conventional oil out before you add the synthetic. And yes, you should change your oil filter at the same time, its simple considering they are right next to one another(the drain bolt and filter). I just use fram filters because they are whats in stock where I live.

I use AMSOIL. Check this out for some more info:

What kind of car do you drive? The cap on mine says 0W-20 or 5W-20.

mine is an 08. I might be mistaken on the 30 vs 20 part. but mine does have the 0w or 5w choice.

its out of my way and i don't really care for the free oil change. Too much time and energy. It would save me money and time to just do the change myself.

    Another question.
Switching from conventional to synthentic and vice versa, do i have to clean my engine out or just drain teh oil?

That's enough. And it'll work, but there's alot better oils that you could have gotten other than the Mobil1...

yea i know, but my AutoZone sucks balls. seirously. I looked through the whole store and asked the people at the front desk. I got the best stuff they have.
And the walmart sucks even more. They don't even have performance oil.

btw Redneck4csa, where in MD are you? I'm in AA. pretty much next to glen burnie.

Well, Wal-Mart sells Pennzoil. I would have went with that before Mobil1.

I'm in New Market. Pretty much next to Frederick. You're roughly an hour away from me. Something like that.

I give up. I put the oil in, but i can't get the oil filter off. I"m just going to keep the K&N in my garage until the next time i get an oil change. Then i'll get toyota to yank that sucker off and put in the oil for me.

All you need is a oil filter wrench. Any auto parts store will have one. They're cheap as dirt.
