steroe help?

I just bought tc and the first thing to go was that horrible steroe. I bought a kenwood in dash dvd player and replaced the stock pioneer. Ive tried to paly music videos that ive downloaded off the net and play on the system. The file types are mpeg files but the palyer wont read them. any ideas or ways to change them would be great. I use nero to burn the dvd rs

Dont you have to burn videos as avi files or convert them into some type of video file? Do they play the music at all?
