    Default Turbo or Skyline?

So, I'm having a little dilemma. I have to do a "choose one or the other, not both" and I'm not 100% sure what I want to do. Here are the options:

    1) Purchase a turbo kit in 9 months for my tC.
    2) Wait 3 years and MAYBE be able to buy a Nissan Skyline.

Initial reaction is "ZOMG A F-ING SKYLINE! WOOT!!!", but it is a maybe. I tried to convince my wife that buying the turbo kit now, then selling it in the future could be a good option, but she wasn't hearing it lol.

So, what do you all think? Turbo tC or Nissan Skyline (either R33 GTR or R34 GTS-T). Keep in mind the Skyline would cost a LOT more then a turbo for the tC.

if i remember correctly the new skyline is like 80 grand but i would go with the turbo tC and if you tune it right you can beat a skyline on the road

Not talking about the new Skyline. I'm also not talking about the GTR R34. I'm talking about either the R33 GTR or the R34 GTS-T (the single turbo version).

And I'd be really surprised to see a street tuned tC beat a Nissan GTR lol.

Thanks for your input though. Glad to see someone else would think about the turbo-tC route.

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong. I love my tC. But my "dream car" has always been the Skyline GTR. Hence the dilemma lol.

Plus, I don't know if I would sell my tC to get the Skyline, or keep it as my DD.

If your talking about stock motor to stock motor with the tC having a turbo setup then you are correct. Put some forged pistons and up the boost and it is a definite possibility FTW depending on the driver and the type of racing. Our limitation is the dreaded 3rd/4th gear ratio.

Anyway, different cars appeal to different drivers. That is why one car manufacturer has so many models that are very similar. In the end, it is up to your personal desire. There is also nothing wrong with having a stable full of sweet rides. My only suggestion from experience is don't wait so long for what you can have now. If you want that Skyline bad enough, you will get it. In the interim, you will have your tC to pass the time with.

Thanks for your input Navy. I agree with you that I probably shouldn't wait too long to get the Skyline, or else I may never get it.

So, I think the only LOGICAL thing to do is convince my wife to let me turbo the tC AND buy the Skyline for your "graduation" in 2 years ~_^

    Wish me luck! lol

I might be going out on a limb here, but why dont you put cash away for the turbo, just a little at a time and then buy it in a few months, then when the time comes see about the skyline(WOOT TO THE ****ING YES R34 FTW). Also, R34 for the win, they have always been my dream car.

Another thing to consider is the right hand drive, I dont know where your at but in florida we have to get a special liscense endorsement in order to drive a right hander, but I digress, either or is nice, BOTH is great!

You could wait, buy the skyline, then wait again, and buy the twincharger kit lol.

Street, I love the idea as I would be able to have my cake AND eat it too. However, I'm married, and with that comes responsibilities lol. My thing is, I have a feeling that if I don't have a Skyline by the time we start having kids, then I'm SCREWED.

Cisco, thanks for your vote. I'm actually surprised how many people are picking the turbo-tC over the Skyline! ^_^

06, I'm talking about a Skyline, not the new GTR. The $90k GTR is sweet, but omg expensive lol.

I understand about the kids thing, and it is a hard choice but I still say you should just drop maybe 50$ a paycheck into a envelope entitled "Turbo" and just leave it there, of course if your wife gets hurt(God forbid) or something else thats serious you can drain it, but you will be suprised how quick it adds up

hahaha yeah Brawler, I'm well aware how quickly that would add up. Considering my salary check comes in weekly lol. But oh boy the wife wouldn't be happy about me pulling $250 a month into a "turbo fund". But it's okay, I will be using my tax return and annual bonus next year for the turbo kit. Should be plenty.

Joking aside...if it were me...as much as a Nissan fanboy I am...I'd stick with the tC...I'm all about being the oddball...which is kinda why I have teh' 4 door granny car lol. I'd just worry about the price/availability of parts for the Skyline.

This is not to sound demeaning, but does your wife know anything about cars? Would she notice if you strapped a turbo onto the tC? Who drives the car primarily? I say, put the turbo in, and if she asks why it sounds different/is faster, tell her you just put in a CAI. lol.

    Rofl I LOVE IT!

There are only a couple of problems with this...

    1) My car already has a cold air intake and she knows this and
    2) We have full access to each other's bank accounts (they are actually linked to a central savings account, so she sees my account balance when she looks at hers).

She doesn't know a lot about cars (sadly), but she knows when $5000 is missing LOL.

But I do like where your head is at Punk.
