Disconnected the connector from the mass airflow sensor when cleaning the air filter. Immediately after the CEL turned on. Any relationship or quin cadence?
im pretty sure (correct me if im wrong) but the cel comes on because without the mass airflow sensor it gives the computer a false reading or something like that and all you need to do is plug it back in and either get someone with an obd2 scanner to clear the light for you or just drive around untill the computer realizes that its reconnected. I think it takes like 100 miles or something like that.
You left out whether or not you reconnected it...

why was the car running when you took apart the air filter and disconnected the MAF?

The car was turned off while I was cleaning the bottom of filter box. The connector was connected back on before the car was started.
Took to auto zone to get code; "Mass or volume air flow circuit fault - low input probable cause."
Opened the goofy OEM filter box and doubled checked everything to be seated correctly. Started engine and CEL was off.
The dude at auto zone never said whether he cleared it or not, forgot to ask. IDK even if he could with his code reader.
