Default How well does the Bazooka thump??

My gf just got the `07 tC, & all her options are about to arrive any day.

I learned all the tricks to the stereo (the SSP setting for xA, xB & tC--I recommend the xA setting), but I noticed that the bass hits when it's JUST A BASS DRUM kicking, but once music plays along with it, the bass kick is "mudded", which is fairly common with 6.5"s with too high a bass setting, so I don't expect much from them.

With the Bazooka subwoofer, though, I'm expecting she'll have to put her bass setting in the negative for optimum bass response, much like with aftermarket stereos & subwoofers, & am hoping the response won't get mudded out the way it does now.

The REAL question is: How well can you FEEL it? Is the bass kind of "droning" or does it really hit you in the chest? I'm hoping we didn't spend $500 for somethin we're gonna have to replace with aftermarket gear for REAL thump

I will be the first to tell you it's not too good. I guess it is due to the lack ok output given by the factory amp. It sounds ok, but not like an aftermarket system. You can amp your stock speakers but if you going that route you will get the same effect with any ported-enclosure box.

I think with $500 you could get a better aftermarket setup, but I haven't heard the bazooka system myself yet.

I have a similar question. I got an 07 a couple weeks ago, but before that i had an 01 grand am, which had a killer stock system. You could feel the bass, but obviously in the tC, not so much. i have an alpine head unit (cda-9857) from that car, and my question is, will that stop the "mudding out" effect when all the music kicks in? I wish i wasn't so stupid and paid the extra $$ for the ipod stereo, since my alpine does everything it does i'm stupid. thanks for the help guys, i'm hella stupid when it comes to sound system stuff.

the bazooka sub is great. its inexpensive and while many people underestimate bazooka, it sounds awesome. adds a nice little bump to your car but not overpowering. it also looks real nice in your trunk since it takes up almost no room.

The bazooka sub is week. I bought this P.O.S. and it sounds great IF the windows are up. Going down the road at 45 mph and the wind turbulents is louder then the bazooka. The only good thing about the sub is the box (shell). I gutted out the speaker and amp and rewired it with a sony xplode 10 inch and 1200 watt amp. Most expensive sub box I've paid for.

    RCAs on the 08's.....

Hi/Low Switch does the trick for amps on a stock radio.

As for the "muddy" sound. Most cars with a 20k pricetag, there not going to put some Mark Levinson Holy **** stock system. So just take the good with the bad, and upgrade the speakers to something more accomidating.

As for the Bazooka or the Pioneer underfloor sub (which mine came with stock) Its got decent bass for someone who likes to know its there, without it being intrusive. If that makes any sense. With a kick note, it is allright. But any notes that are low carry tones (like in 3-6 Mafia songs) you will miss alot of the bassline because the sub simply cannot put those tones out with any force.

The Bazooka option is a GIANT waste of money. For 400 dollars you can buy the Infinity Basslink, and get the upgrade so you can have an amp for your speakers if you want bass for not alot of space. Past that take the 500 bucks, go buy a real sub/amp and put some feel it bass in the tC.

if only they knew how to spell turbulence ...in my opinion, the bazooka does the job for MY car. others would rather drop in two 12''s and have their car rattle like hell. for a stock 10'', it goes well with my reggae/dub music and thats all that matters to me but if your looking for a big thump, go with an aftermarket 10'' and a nice amp...

My Son has the Pioneer underdeck sub in his Blizzard Pearl RS 3.0. It is idden well and produces a decent amount of bass. The problem is that the spare tire floor pan does not have any sound dampening. After a heavy bass tone, during a brief pause after the last note, there is a perceptual ringing tone caused by reflections from the metal surface. I am thinking about adding the bazooka to it if I can find one cheap.

Navy i had that same sub in my 2.0

Im so glad i got it out and put a true subwoofer in there. It has no low sustained note capability.

True, but it is my Son's 3.0 and I want to keep it OEM.
