I would also like to pass along that there are a lot of Mom and Pop gas stations out there as well. More than likely the gas isn't going to be name brand/top tier fuels, I would stay clear of those as well. I work for a full service gas station in NY (Kwik Fill) United Refining Co. Our gas is refined in Warren Pa and its American Gas, not brought over from Iraq/Kuwait.

Another topic that comes to mind is when the tanker truck is refueling the station. I was told not to buy gas when the refueling process is going on, better to wait at least 4 hrs for settling. Granted most gas stations that are up-to-date have multiple filtering systems to catch particulates in the gas, but you can never be to sure. Our on pumps our filters are external and we change them every month, there are also filters in the underground tanks as well. For the 2 years I have worked for the company, we haven't had any issues with bad/contaminated fuel.

Do you happen to know what required filter maintenance and station inspection intervals are? Wondering if the smaller, older stations have leeway to skimp.

I will admit that we are a very old station, but as far as the intervals go, I have never asked. I do know that our managers change the filters on the pumps monthly. The station and gas pumps themselves are checked by weights & measures every 2 yrs. We also have to dip our tanks every night to check for water and get the fuel levels of each tank and record it. Newer stations have a computer system that gives a read out of each tank, water content if any, ullage, volume..etc.

Ullage... such a big word. I bet the vast majority of the public does not know what that means. As a C-130 Loadmaster, I have pay attention to that due to the pressure differences at altitude.

My suggestion would be to use 89 octane, it burns cleaner and there's more energy in the 89 octane verses the 87 octane. 87 octane is basic performance and doesn't burn as clean nor does it give you the best MPG's. Anytime I used 87 octane, my tC idled poorly, used more gas and not to mention lots of performance lag when I punch the throttle. A bottle of fuel injection cleaner every 2000-4000 miles will help keep your fuel system clean and maintain peak performance. I would also suggest staying away from no-name/mom and pop gas stations, stick with top-tier fuel (Exxon/Mobil, Shell, Sunoco, BP, Citgo, Chevron) for example. Cleaning your TB every so often as well as your MAF sensor won't hurt you either.

If you want to see what grade of fuel does best for you, run 3-4 tanks of 87, calculate your MPG, then run 3-4 tanks of the next grade, then calculate your MPG, if you see in increase in MPG more then stick w/ the higher octane. As far as I am concerned, the increase in MPG w/ the higher octanes speaks for itself when you figure it out on a calculator or pen and paper. We pay more for a higher octane for a reason, it costs more to refine higher octanes. It is also more pure and less un-needed junk in the higher octanes.

Spammer deleted. Doubt some jerk in France has a tC.

I finally got around to sneaking on a TRD CAI for my 2007 Tundra. It has only 52K miles and I found my TB to have alot of carbon build-up. I Seafoam the crap out of it and got her cleaned. The oil was a quart low so it looks like I have a leaky valve seal or two. Other than that, TB should be fairly clean on new engines.

OK, but now how do sneak headers and a full dual exhaust system on there?

Everyday that I get on here, I see freak'n spammers with some fake conversations. I don't know if it is a bot using word recognition or some jerk setting us up with their spam crap. I wish I could send a huge power surge and short out their computers or, at least, do a memory dump.
