    Default Clutch problems..

Hello guys...I've been looking and looking and cant really find what I'm looking for.....What it is my son has a 05 Tc and his clutch feels like its slipping "like a wet slip" .....it goes into gears good but when you take off the motor revs and he doesn't move that fast...
He says it started all at once but that's hard to tell...last week he was adding oil and didn't tighten the cap and had oil all over...you don't think that could of did anything?

Thanks for the help and info..

When you say clutch slipping, I automatically think its out. Which is kind of hard to accept since the car is so young. My integra's clutch went out in like 10 years. A dead clutch pretty much feels that way; the engine revs but the tranny isnt getting the power and you move slow. Is it only slipping sometimes? I'm sure there might be other reasons and some one else can pitch in.

Oil shooting all over is bad, make sure you refill and have the proper amount of oil again or else the pressure will drop and that is a big no no.

The circled area is a plastic access cover that you can inspect the clutch with. Use a bright flashlight to see if you have signs of oil contamination of the clutch. If so, spray water from garden hose onto exposed areas of the clutch to wash away built up oil. If the oil contamination is severe, it is highly suggested to remove transmission and clutch assembly for thorough cleaning and inspection.

Caution: Do not spray with high pressure water from a pressure washer nor use any solvents such as brake cleaner, carb cleaner, or acetone. Either of these can likely cause corrosion of clutch fork springs/clutch assembly and/or remove the grease from the input shaft, clutch fork pivots, or the release bearing.

Note: You can rotate the clutch assembly for access to other sections either by 2 methods.
    1. If car is jacked up with the front wheels off the ground, then have trans in 1st gear but clutch depressed (takes 2 people).
    2. With trans in neutral, bump the starter once or twice to rotate the assembly.

It is also highly possible that the clutch can just be worn or glazed. How many miles on the car? Has your Son been the only owner? What are his driving habits? What is his experience level driving a standard? Many a clutch in many a car has been glazed (overheated) from inexperienced drivers.
