    Default need help with ECU

I have an 05' Toyota Camry. It's my understanding that it has the same engine as the 05' Tc. I did some minor modifications. Installed a header made for a Tc, cold air intak, opened the exhaust up. Since I did these modifications, I did achieve more power, but sometimes the computer throws the check engine light for running lean. It only happens one in a while. Mostly during hot weather. Someone told that since I opened it up, I need to adjust the A/F mixture and do a little changing with the timing. What would be the best way to go about this. Greddy makes the E-management piggyback computer that should work. But I need the harnesses and I don't want to cut up my harness. I read some where that I might be able to reflash the computer. Does anyone know a company that would do that for our year and model ECU.

Mostly what you have been told is not fully correct, although, they do hold weight with other vehicles (non-Toyo brand).

    1. The Toyota ECU is encrypted and cannot be chipped. It can be reflashed but only with the Toyota Tech Tool and a special electronic interface (hardware encryption). Think of it like Sony DRM for DVD's. Just recently has Toyota been forced by Federal regulation to make the Toyota Tech Tool available to non-Toyota service centers.
    2. http://www.club-tc.com/forums/engine...event-mil.html Follow this guideline to resolve the MIL. This will be very similar on the Camry.
    3. From personal experience, piggybacks don't do so well on the 2AZ-FE. The ECU is a learning computer and will renegotiate the tables to bring the motor back into factory specs. What that means is that gains can be had with a piggyback, but eventual the ECU is the boss and will nullify most of those gains.
    4. You can get ready made PNP pigtail harnesses or cheaper DIY pigtails to integrate into your vehicle. Being a Camry, the wiring is not exact so you may have to try a DIY to splice into the correct wires. Call vendor and ask.
