    Default Master Cylinder Failed???

I have an 2007 Scion TC and I am also new to these forums. Took my car to Keith Pierson where I bought it so they could check it out. I expected the worst and got it. They said they need to replace my Master Cylinder with all new brake pads and its 800+ out the door.

I was like, "what?" "Are you serious?"

He said "You know what, let me see what I can do." "I'll call you back Corey."

    Me: "ok" "Thanks Jason"

Then he calls me back saying that from now on I have to handle all my stuff through him and that he cut my bill 50-50. Now its like 400. Which is great. I just find this **** very shady.

So is this just how Business with Toyota goes? Or am I getting screwed?
I honestly thought it was a heating problem cause my car would break on it self or want to stop during the day.

Any guidance would be awesome folks.

If something sounds too good to be true or sounds fishy, it probably is. If I was you, I would get a second opinion. A lot of car dealerships/mechanics are very shady and out to make a sale and their back pocket fatter. Not saying this is the case with your situation, but CYOA...cover your own a**!

Thank for the feed back. I partly blame myself for my ignorance towards vehicles. I'm a video game designer, not a mechanic. Well.....400 to replace a Master Cylinder sounds fair I suppose.

Your more than welcome for the advice. I'm not perfect either and have made my mistakes. I am a hands on person but also learn a lot from reading. I am not a certified mechanic either, but I know what I know, if I don't know something, I won't open my mouth. I feel better asking questions when it pertains to something I don't know or want to know more about. Most of my knowledge has come from my father, but also from working at a few car dealerships, AutoZone and hands on.

My best advice to you like I said would be to have another person who is certified and knows a thing or two about Scion's look the whole situation over and give their opinion. I wouldn't pay a cent till you know what the real deal is.
