    Default Broke my plastic where the hatch button is on my 07 scion tc... very sad

    I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone...Today I was trying to open the hatch and it was still locked so when I pulled up on it the whole piece broke off the only thing holding it was the wires for to open the hatch I'm very upset

    I have heard on other Scion related websites that this incident has happened. What exactly causes it, I am not sure. If you need to replace this part, TRDSparks.com - (ask for KEN) can get you another one and less that the Dealership aka Stealership will charge you. Best wishes and sorry to hear about your mishap.

    Wally World (aka Wal-mart) sells different colored tapes that you can use for that custom look. I have almost done that myself a few times.

    Does anyone have the gummy membrane for the unlock switch? My 2007 RS 3.0 does. The Dealership said that they have had a few of these gone bad (gummy). It is integral with the switch so it is replaced as a $65 assembly. I am checking into it being a warranty defect. The same may also be said of the lock cover fascia. I don't recall any warning about tugging on it with the hatch lock against possible breakage.

    you can get a replacement hatch garnish at Welcome to the Full Throttle OE Performance for about $60 shipped.. i ordered one just so i can fill in the indention where the scion emblem goes and have a shaved garnish... i will do it to the one thats on the car too just so i can have something to do and i might sell it later on.. hope this hepls anyone!

    Hey, I have been looking at buying a Tc and out of the 10 cars I've looked at 2 have had that broke. This is veryyy common, all I can say is push up not out or its gonna break eventually.

    The problem that I have seen is when opening the hatch and you think it is unlocked. That puts alot of strain on inner 2 of the 4 mounting bolts causing the slotted seats that hold those bolts to breakaway from the body of the garnish. This happened to mine. I easily repaired it by reaffixing the bolts into the seats with 2-part epoxy resin.
