Default When Buying A Used Car

I want to buy a Used Scion tC I make about 0/bi week, and I plan to put 2K down on a tC valued at 8500 or below, and the rest will be financed. My dad doesn't want to co-sign, he says I wont be able to afford the month payments w/ Insurance. He claims dealerships will not sell me a Used car, unless i'm going to put full coverage on it. No matter how much I put down. Can someone clear this up for me?

I believe with a used vehicle and if your paying on a loan, full coverage is necessary. I am currently still paying on my 2006 Scion tC ($276.00) a month. Right now interest rate are really low, so you may get a really good deal. I just refinanced mine back in November, I was originally paying Toyota Financial ($330.00) a month.
