Default Anyone have ideas on how to fix the Front Windshield Moulding?

I did some search online on this and have found quite a few people having problems with their windshield moulding. The solution from what I've read is to get the windshield replaced and moulding fixed at the same time.

I was wondering if anyone else had similar issues, and if they have any other ideas on getting this issue resolved?

    Thank you
    ~S

Can't say that I have had any issues, had mine since 06 through all 4 seasons. But my best guess is that it is probably alot easier overall to just get a new window w/ moldings. Although would probably be cheaper to just get new moldings unless you are able to go through insurance, but that wouldn't really help you in the long run.

My tC is an o6 and I've had it since November 2007 and I haven't had any issues w/ mine. You can try TRD Toyota-Scion Performance Parts Accessories from Sparks Toyota-Scion or if your tC is still under warranty, have the dealer replace it.

Are you talking about the rubber piece at the top of the windshield?
You can see in the schematic that it is a one piece molded rubber that covers the top and sides.

Yes moulding...the rubber piece at the top of the Windshield. I didnt think they were all one piece as thats the only part that comes off. Was wondering if there was another solution other then having to redo the windshield along with the new rubber piece.

Here is a short discussion on this issue

I had that same issue going thru the automated car washes with the high volume drying blowers. It would cause the top portion to lift up. All I had to ever do was pop it back down. It has never popped up on the highway w/ or w/o the sunroof open even at 128MPH.

If you look at the diagram that I posted, you will see that the moulding sits atop the glass, not under it. Not to go into the long, lengthy details of the windshield removal/install process, only excerpts of the moulding will be listed.

    25. REMOVE WINDSHIELD MOULDING OUTSIDE
    (a) Using a knife, cut off the windshield moulding
    outside.
    NOTICE:
Be careful not to damage the vehicle body with the knife.
    (b) Remove the remaining moulding.
    HINT:
Make a partial cut in the moulding. Then pull and remove it by hand.

    26. REMOVE WINDSHIELD GLASS

Please notice that the windshield is removed after the moulding. I see no reason that the glass will have to be removed/reinstalled.

    4. INSTALL WINDSHIELD GLASS
    a bizillion steps

    5. INSTALL WINDSHIELD MOULDING OUTSIDE
    (a) Using a brush or sponge, apply Primer G to the contact surface of the windshield glass.
    HINT:
If primer G is applied to an area other than that
which is specified, wipe off the primer with white
    gasoline before it dries.
    NOTICE:
    • Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.
    • Throw away any leftover primer.
    • Do not apply too much primer.
    (b) Align the moulding's marks with glass notches and install the moulding before the adhesive dries.
    NOTICE:
Do not drive the vehicle for the amount of time written in the table below.

Please notice that the moulding is installed after the glass has been set and cured in it's adhesive. The only thing that I can possibly see why people state windshield removal is because the moulding is glued to the window with Primer G and adhesive. You should be able to remove the moulding as a solid piece, especially if the adhesive has already failed. Looking at my cars, it appears that the factory applied the primer/adhesive to side edges and none along the top portion of the window. That would make replacement a breeze. The moulding does appear to be 3 pieces that are glued together from what I can tell. If the top part is the issue and the sides are fine, it is possible to replace just the top though you will have to buy the entire part most likely. I would take that suggestion to use the 3M 8011 and just reattach it.
