A Scion tC is a great all around reliable and very dependable car. As far as insurance goes, that will all depend on the insurance company you go through, if it was me I would shop around for the best rates. You should be able to find a tC with in your budget. Every vehicle will have its quirks, squeaks...etc, but as far as the tC's go, the only major issues to watch out for is the Water Pump and Water Pump Seal. You will get the normal hatch squeaks and some people have had the rear trunk garnish break on them, but other than that, you'll be fine. I own a 2006 Scion tC in Azure Pearl, and I love my tC. I have only had issues w/ the water pump/seal, but that was covered by the manufactures warranty. Mine is also heavily modded, it starts up everyday and gets me to my destination very safely.

One of the best cars that you will ever own. This is an extremely reliable car. I have had no real issues. Mine is one of the early 2005 models with 60K+ miles, a TRD S/C @ 15PSI, and I romp on it hard all the time. All car makes/models have little issues through-out the life of their production runs. There are very few cars out there than can come close to the value, features, quality, and style of the Scion tC. When it hit the markets at the end of 2004, it broke quite a few molds. Price wise, the tC has bucked the market trends and retained a high resale value. Now that we are going into the second year of the Gen2, Gen1 used prices are now beginning to fall. The car is a 3 door coupe and is considered one of the most ticketed cars for the GenY crowd. Still, my insurance is not much thru USAA.

Your more than welcome. 10k you shouldn't have any issues, just make sure you have the whole car looked over before you sign on the bottom line and get a CARFAX Report.

True. There have been many tC's involved in roll-overs from inexperienced drivers trying to take a corner too fast or drift and they end up smacking the curb with enough force to cause a roll-over. Cool thing about the tC, in that situation, is that it is sometimes hard to tell the car has even been rolled. What is more awesome about the tC is that none of these wrecks involved any injury. The powertrain that I bought to race prep was bought from such a vehicle. I did not believe the guy at first that the donor car was rolled. He stepped out without a scratch.
