    Default Interior styling questions

I want the inside of my car to have an orange theme to match the gauges. I was wondering what i can physically take off and paint... Maybe some stuff around the air vents? near the handles? anything and everything. just leme know. If anyone has any other ideas as how to make the insides look great, any recommendations are appreciated. No matter how small, everything counts. thanks

Well, I know the entire center console and HVAC panels come off. Also, the guage bezel pops off.

The vents pop out real easy..you need to reach up from behind the vent and just push on them...*POP*...hopefully you have small hands.

The lower console and waterfall come out very easily....I simply pull on both sides of the waterfall and it comes out very easy..make sure the radio door is down for both removal and install. As for the lower console you will need to take the shift knob off....then you will gently pull up on the back half until it comes loose, and then move to the front half and gently pull out on that....
    and you're done.

The gauge pods are real easy as well....working from the top down around to the outsides you will gently pull until it comes loose. Make sure the steering wheel is as low as it will go. once it is loose simply work it out...putting it back into place is just as easy...

Simply reverse all the steps to re-install all the parts...

The rest of the parts I have yet to do but I will probably begin repainting this weekend and I will let you know how easy/hard the other parts are...
Lookin for a new set of wheels...hit me up

As do the circles in the door handles, the door handles themselves, the air vents in the dash, there are a variety of things that can be painted on the interior.

    :bump:

Do you sand all parts before paint? Do you use primer before color? DO you use clear coat?

I would sand them before anything to give them the texture to stick. Then im not sure if you have to primer sorry. And i personally would use a clear coat to bring out the shine and protect the paint

from my experience I actually used a primer (sandable) until everything is completely covered. I use 3 coats of paint each one wet sanded...use 1000 for the first coat, 2000 for the 2nd coat and then 3000 for the final coat. Use a quality clear for the best coverage. You can wet sand that as well....and then buff out for a VERY luster.

right. rattle can everything. As far as the clear coat and luster goes, be careful. Mostly everything on the inside is pretty much flat or has very little luster. You don't want to have one or two random things that have luster where the rest is not. Worst case you can paint it without clear coat put it on, see how it looks, and make your decision from there.

I used 100 grit sand paper, taped off what I wanted to keep silver or black, used a white primer made specifically for plastics, then did four coats of the color, and used one clear coat.

Some areas have drip spots or particle bumps. And the paint I used went through the paperbag I was using to mark off what I didn't want painted. So now there are some blue spots that I didn't want.

My gf suggested nail polish remover or rubbing alcohol to get the spots of blue off. Minus those faults, the color looks great and I'm stoked to have it in my car. I'm driving today with no waterfall or anything. Looks like I got stripped in LA.
