Default anyone whos installed race seats

I installed my race seats and the passenger air bag near the radio wont ever go opn now, and on my dash my air bag lights on, so im guessing they dont work.. i unhooked the wired that went from the seat into the floor on both sides but the passenger i still have four plugs that dont plug into anything. On the old seat they were in a bunch of small boxes in each cornder of the seat but i can get them out.. So i dont think my airbags are gonna work wich is dangereous any help?? thanks

If you install racing seats, the side airbags will not work because the airbags are located inside the seat itself.

Yes, it can be a dangerous situation, but only in a side impact. Your front airbags are independent of the side curtain and bolster bags. What I did discover in the manuals is that the SRS uses Driver's seating position fwd/bkwd to determine the amount of force and timing of firing the steering wheel airbag and the seatbelt pretensioner. Since you have disconnected all the the seat sensors with your racing seat, it is not known what the driver's airbags will do. One can assume that there is a failsafe that will fire the airbags regardless of other sensor input if the the firing logic is met.
    Driver Seat Position/
    FORWARD: Seat position is forward
    BKWARD: Seat position is backward
    FAIL: Failure detected
I am looking over the SRS system. It is very complicated. Trying to determine what exactly will the system do when the seats are removed. There maybe a way of shunting the unplugged inputs to provide the correct feedback to fool the system. No matter what can be devised, it is extremely important that it does not negatively affect the operation of the SRS.

The SRS system in the tC is fairly advanced, rivaling even the most expensive vehicles that are considered safe. Pretty amazing for a car costing under 18K . The side curtain upgrade has a total of 7 impact sensors. Just another testament to the hidden value in our car.

I just found a pair of Bride seats for ~$200. I've been lookin at seats for a while and it's usualy around $600 for one seat. I know Bride is a pretty reputable brand. So did I just stumble across a good deal?

I'm still trying to weigh out the pros and cons:

Pros: Great look, Matches the car (blue) very well, Better for handling, 4pt harness will keep me form flying out of the windshield better than a stock seatbelt.

Cons: No side airbags, SRS light constantly on, What do I do with the stock seatbelts? Can I remove them? Not as easy to get in&out of the harness.

As always, ANY and ALL opinions or experiences are welcomed. Thanks guys.

Congrats on the find. Do you have the seat brackets? Are they adjustable? Some people leave their stock belts in place. You will find jumping in and out of a 4 point harness a pain all of the time. Got any pics of the seats?

Well, it's official. I'm an idiot. They are K2 seats, that are Bride STYLE. Here's the link A Pair Of Bride Style Reclinable Racing Seats W/ Sliders - Black/Blue

Sooooo, yeah. Oh! Do you need a harness bar? Or will some harnesses wrap around the seat and connect to itself?

It's that fine print that will get ya everytime. You will need something to connect the harness to. Wrapping around the seat will only get you killed in a wreck. I highly suggest getting a harness bar. This can be had built for the tC or universal that you have to make fit.

Okay, well, it seems like what started out as good find, has become less and less as I dig deeper into. So, with seats you also have to get a harness and a harness bar. Well I will just wait on this untill I have a second car as a grocery getter... Cool. Thanks again, Navy.

Now what should I spend the $250 on? Hmm...

Or I could finish off my half sleeves.

Seeing as I really only drive with myself and my girl... if I decide to remove my rear seats, I could install a roll cage and use that as a harness bar correct?

How much can I expect to pay for a roll cage? Do they help with stability at all, or just prevent you from dying a horrible firey death?
