In the effort to find new and upcoming products to give your ride that edge, I have came across a new product that is going to make interior panel removal possibly a much simpler task. I came across these little gems at the New Orleans Autorama World of Wheels car show. They are designed to replace panel fasteners that have become broken, tabs bent/broken, or mounting holes that have become elongated. These come in about six different varieties and are Made in the USA.
Possible uses would be for making hidden panels for amp racks or custom speaker grilles. A use that popped in my head when I first saw this product was that a panel that might be removed alot, say the door panels, could have all the plastic pop snaps replaced with these magnetic ones. This would allow for quick removal of the door panel. It could be temporary for when you are doing modifications so that you wont ruin your plastic snaps or damage your door panel which happens more often than not. Another potential idea for you Weekend Warriors would have the mags on there all the time to make for a super easy method of door panel removal if you are looking into shedding some weight before you blast down the track. This is going to be a research project of mine to determine if these magnets can handle the weight of the door panel w/o any snaps while DD or if a couple or so snaps will have to be left installed to maintain door alignment. Check back here for updates.
