The tC wins off the line and looses ground between 3rd and 4th simply because of gearing. The tC is geared very low and combined with a motor that has equal torque to power gives it the win off the line and from a 30 roll. 1st gets you redline too darn quick to make better use of your power. The 3rd-4th gear ratios are spaced to far apart causing the motor to stretch out beyond it's sweet spot.
The stock clutch can handle the power and does have alot of dead play in the pedal before disengagement. This can be compensated for by adjusting your seat up and adjusting out the dead play in the clutch travel. A quick shifter is a definate must. The tC needs an upgrade tranny option with closer ratios, LSD, and perhaps a 6-speed.
