Stephanie's tC!

This is a discussion on Stephanie's tC! within the Member's Project Work Logs forums, part of the Welcome to Club-tC category; I appologize, it looked like the same color as mine. The WaveLine Pearl is really sick as well....

Hey gang! It's been a while since I've posted.

Just wanted to give a head's up about some plans I've got started for my tC:

    - I ordered heated seats (it's getting very chilly, very quick here in VA and snowboarding season is around the corner so I'd say, total necessity) and I am waiting on them to be here in the next few days. I just ordered a driver's kit for now, to see how it will work out and so on. I will do a write up and evaluation once it's complete

    - Since I'm bored with the black interior, my best friend made me a custom shift boot. I am actually going to redo parts of my seats, probably the part that I rip out once I get the heated seat elements, to match the same color that she used for the shift boot and potentially put the same blue on the door panels.

    - I am going to paint my calipers pink soon.

    - And I am going to paint my waterfall and the cluster panel. I still haven't decided on a color but it will happen soon.

I don't have too much time or money for the moment to focus on getting fast for now haha.

Oh, and there was a really epic autocross on the 24th that I went to and here is a picture of me killing it on the track!

Long time for sure. Looking killer there on the track. What wheels are you roll'n on? Those P-Tuning guys ain't got you boosted yet? Like the shift boot. Looks awesome and quality stitching. Need a new knob to match.

I know, it's been a while. I just get too busy and wrapped up with school. Thanks!!! Those are Enkei EDR9's. I love them. I got 18's last year when I got the Nitto tires. LOL I can't afford to get my homeboys from P-Tuning to get me boosted. They, unfortunately, don't give me a "Cute girl who wants a fast car discount" nor a "friends and supporter discount." HAHA I wish. Although, we make jokes about withholding it from my friend's paycheck who is the bestest and most amazing tech out there. And his xA is ridiculous. I really like the shift boot a lot. My best friend used just a regular sewing machine, I think and she saw it yesterday and was amazed how well it has held up too. I actually want an Autobots shift knob haha. I love track days, they make me happy but it is way too cold out here now so track season is over *sigh*.

Aw thanks xskydivingdudex. I'm actually not going to reupholster the seats, just the door panels. I haven't gotten around to that yet though, nor looked up how much it can cost me for the fabric and how to even do it.

Today is car maintenance day though. I'm changing my oil - Toyota oil filter and Mobil 1 (yay!), converting my CAI to short ram and putting my hydroshield on it, tire rotation (that's a given), installing a cabin air filter (yes, I know it doesn't make my car faster, I just need it to not smell funky, especially since I'm always using heat now since it's cold), and if there is enough time, installing my butt warmers. It's been on the list, just haven't gotten around to it. I don't have a fender liner - I think I ripped it out, I can't remember - and with winter coming up, I'd rather not hydrolock my engine because of my snowboarding escapades so I figure, make the intake short ram and be safe haha.

I bought a new battery on Friday, which kinda irked me. Last week, my car decided she wanted to be a jerk and not start when it was cold. I was actually mortified because I've only had my car since April 2008 and I didn't think my battery should die this early, especially since I just hit 45,000 miles TODAY, but oh well. Such is life, right? After much shopping and investigating, I decided to get a battery from the dealer just because I couldn't beat the price or the fact that it had an 84 month warranty.

Still looking good and gotta say that shift boot is sick. Take care of your ride and keep us posted w/ all your future mods. I also have been busy as well, plus I haven't been online all that much. Although I did get a couple of mods done b4 old man winter sets in. My OEM motor/tranny mounts/bushing were upgraded to Energy Suspensions and my OEM Crank Pulley came out and an Agency Lite Weight Crank Pulley went its place. Very happy with the new mods and the difference is very noticable. I will be doing Tokico Struts next, saving up $$ as we speak.

Thank youuuuuuu. I really like the shift boot, it's super soft. What do you think of those motor mounts? I'm considering upgrading mine (obviously to the PTuning ones) but I don't know if I necessarily need it.

The motor/tranny mounts/bushings will greatly reduce wheel spin/hop. You will also gain better take off/dig with some slight vibration in the dash/steering column/wheel. After they break in, the vibration is minimal, plus they last a lot better than our OEM ones which rubber and gel filled, rubber dries out, cracks and looses its stiffness, ability to absorb pressure/load.

Oh right on. That's legit. My friend Justin is trying to get me to buy them but I could never figure out if I need them or not. Since I autocross, I think it sounds like it would help with like taking off and losing traction sometimes. Hmm. These are the ones I'm considering with the competition insert.

I know that P-Tuning makes awesome stuff, I went with Energy Suspensions, I will let you know that the bushings are time consuming, but after everything is said and done, its so well worth it. Have you swapped pullies on your tC?

PTuning is the bomb. When I get some more moneys, boost is happening. I just noticed that PTuning is now carrying those Energy Suspensions too. I haven't swapped pullies yet but haven't necessarily felt the need for that. I auto cross so I've been more focused on handling and suspension work. I don't necessarily need to be fast yet because I don't do Time Attack but that would be too fun.

I mentioned the pulley's (Crank) because your acceleration will be more crisp, smoother and a bit faster, plus being that your doing auto-cross/time attack, it may help your lower your lap times, plus getting up to speed a bit faster is always a plus. Just trying to help you out, and help to leave your options open.

I got to drop those clumsy HKS Hypermax RS coilovers. They suck eggs. My full Hothchkis setup beats the pants off them. I unfortunately have too much power for the OEM diff and clutch. Have you upgraded yours yet? Would be a good investment for powering thru the turns.

Heheh, while you're in there changing the clutch, do the flywheel, too! The Fidanza is 10 pounds lighter than stock. It drops 5 times more rotational mass than the crank pulley.

I have that. Actually, I have had it and the clutch since they were offered over 4 years ago. Okay have more pressing matters. Kenny Tran flogged it on the dyno about 2 hours ago and it only baselined 214WHP/214FtLbs. I was hoping to be far north of 260WHP. The bad news is that my rings are getting worn. Maybe have to break down and install that race motor gathering dust at Jotech.

Lol, I knew YOU did. You recommended clutch to JUSTPLAYXTRAGIC and I was piggybacking you.

How many miles/hours have you logged on that motor? It seems a little soon to be seeing that kind of power degredation. How are your compression ratios looking?

Almost 58K miles, been S/C since about 6-11K miles. The issue that with the worn rings is that 15PSI and 105F+ Texas heat don't mix very well w/o an intercooler. I was forced to take a trip to Texas in the hottest part of the Summer and that proved to be the undoing of the compression rings. Other than that, the motor was running fine in 90F+ humid weather in New Orleans. Had this been a turbo setup instead of the S/C, then the rings and/or the piston ring lands themselves would have given away long before at 15PSI. Had I not driven to Texas that time, I am fully confident my motor would still be in top-notch shape. Even now, at 214WHP, I am breaking the tires loose with too much throttle in 1st and 2nd. I will be doing a leakdown check tomorrow.

I haven't done clutch work to be honest. I haven't felt the need. I'm not powerful enough anyway hahaha. I'm running pretty much stock.

Kangstaxd, I'd love to but I'm already 1.8" lower than stock. I don't have money for coils yet.

I think next on my list is some VRD style fog lights with HIDS (because as far as I have been told, VRD is no longer in business), eye lids (which I have been babbling about forever), and something else. I just don't know what yet.
