    Smile Hello Everyone

New here to the forum so I just want to introduce myself.
My name is Ant and I'm from central NJ. Just purchased a 2009 5-speed Scion tC TRD and I must say that I am in love with the car. It handles like a dream and looks absolutely beautiful.
Looking to mod my car a bit so if anyone has any suggestions please let me know. I have installed a AEM cai a couple weeks ago and it adds a bit of hp & torque; had the windows tinted and it just adds that much more to it's look. The next mod I am contemplating is installing new headers that won't void warranty or fail emissions. Thank you in advance for your help & I'm looking forward to being a member of this board

*will post pics when I receive my new camera*

Hello and welcome to the Club! We may not be busy like other sites but we aim to get you the info you need; correct and concise. We look forward to seeing your pride and joy.

Any header that you replace your OEM header with alters your factory emissions system, therefore, can void your chances of passing your State/County's inspection criteria. The OEM header contains the primary TWC (Three-Way Catalist). There is a secondary catalytic converter further down the exhaust trail that you might be able to argue is the one and only catalytic converter. Only one aftermarket header was made with an integral converter. It is no longer made as it was prone to failure.

With that said, the recommended aftermarket header is the solid built Weapon R. I cost a bit more but comes with an integrated s-pipe. The OEM happens to be a source of contention to efficient exhaust gas flow so it is well worth the extra cost.

For more info on everything about exhausts, please peruse our Exhaust Section, especially the sticky threads.

Thanks for the info. It looks like just about any header that I install will cause me to fail emissions when my inspection is due. I have heard that if I also install a down-pipe along with another part that I cannot remember at this moment might prevent that. Not sure how true that is, I just heard it in passing. Other than the header issue, I am always up for other ways to increase my hp & torque with any other recommended mods that you can suggest. Thank you again for the detailed info and looking forward to adding new mods to my tC.
