    Default New here

    It's good to finally find a forum deals with Tc. I have an 05' Toyota camry. It's my understanding that the engine in my car is exactlly the same as the engine in the Tc. I have done some minor modifications, ie. cold air intake, header for the Tc, opened up the exhaust a bit. Now I am trying to find out if there is something I can do to the computer. Either reflash or go with a piggy bake. Like greddy. I want to tweek the a/f and the timing. If anyone has any Suggestions, It would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello and welcome! Its always nice to meet another enthusiast(?), I am confused as to what you are asking though I must admit. Do you want info and products on the Camry ECU or the tC ECU. I dont know of any differences as my knowledge is limited mainly to the tC and Nissans but I would suspect there are a few just due to the nature of the car manufacturing and regulations beast. If you are looking for tC ECM info I would recommend that you not upgrade with only a H/I/E setup as the tCs are OEM equipped with a Learning ECM that can account for the minor changes in the A/F ratio or Exhaust Conditions. The combustion mixture is not sufficiently changed to warrant a timing adjustment created by an ECM reflash or Piggyback ECU System until you start pushing major air via a F/I system or Nitrous. If you still want to look at some and make a decision then the sites below carry some good reputable, stable and well known brands of Piggybacks;

    Thank you for the info. I am thinking about going with the greddy E-manage standalone. I have heard some good thing regarding this standalone. As far as Camry or Zion Tc. I have a 05' Camry. The 05' Zion Tc came with the exact same engine. As far as I can tell, the Zion has the exact same computer and electronic set-up as the Camry. The difference is, there is more of a demand for after market performance parts for the Zion then there is for the Camry. I like the idea of having a sleeper car. I like the style and the room that I get with the Camry, but I want to get all the performance that the 2.4 liter engine has to offer. Thanks again for the help.

    1st: Why are you calling it a "Zion"?

    2nd: Although the engines are the same, the placement of other items in the engine bay may not be, i.e. battery, fuse box, etc. So other engine mods probablly will not be universal between the two.

    3rd: I would call a dealer before buying a tC part for a Camry. Like StreetBrawler said, there may be slight differences between the two.

    Might I reccommend that you visit a Camry Performance Forum as they would be able to assist you in these matters much more than us. Like I said above, there really isnt a need on the tCs to Upgrade the ECM with only an Exhaust system and Intake piping. There may be slight differences between even things like the coding that could screw up any sort of swap you attempt so I would recommend you check out this site ECU & Electronics - Camry Forums - Toyota Camry Enthusiast Forum for info regarding your ECM setup. I think you are also confused about this topic regarding the camry because as I am reading I find that the Camry experiances large gains from upgrading chips and internal Computers where as most people agree the tC gains nothing and might actually suffer from having a custom tune via a piggyback unit.

    Only true for Toyota before 2007. 2007-up have the same software in the ECM's as do the Scions.
