IMO converting from an Auto to a Manual is going to be a very expensive conversion, but on the other hand I think it would be very cool in the same sence. Having an auto verses a manual is all on personal preference. Does one or the other do better? It all depends on how you drive. I have driven manuals, but don't care for all the shifting thats involved, but that is just me. I have raced many autos and manuals for that matter have beaten both. If your going to go turbo, I would suggest getting a turbo header, bigger fuel injectors, upgrade the fuel pump, and run a higher octane gas. I am not 100% positive whether or not a auto transmission can take more/less abuse with a forced induction application. Our trannys can be shifted the same as an auto and won't hurt it one bit. Our trannys are basically the same as the Toyota Camry and can take whatever you throw at it. Although as far as what psi/boost they can withstand, I am not the one to answer that. I am also going to suggest you stick with a good full synthetic oil like (Mobil 1, Castrol Syntec, Ams Oil, Royal Purple) for ex. I would also see if you can run a full synthetic oil in the tranny as well.

I do know with going turbo, the tC's can easliy achieve over 300HP, but its going to take some money, and upgrading the internals of the VVT-i engine. Once you get everything where you want it, I would go the extra step and have the engine tuned on a dyno and tweeked so everything is at equal balance. Keep in mind that you're going to decrease fuel mileage and may have to keep up more on your tC's maintenence.

Since our engines are interference motors, it has a timing belt and I would make sure you change that when its due, you blow the timing belt, you may seize/blow the engine or do other internal damage, this applies the same for Honda.

I also forgot to mention, you could even go the extra mile and convert to a right-hand drive, which I have yet to see on a Scion tC, but then again that's a very expensive modification.

You may be surprised to find that we actually have a timing chain setup and not a timing belt. Much better setup for a performance engine.

That is a good list there Cadence. You should make a new post under the New Member section with this list and I can sticky it.
