I love the RS2 kit.
A turbo, exhaust gasses go into the turbocharger and spin it. With a supercharger, air goes in, witchcraft happens and you go faster - Jeremy Clarkson
Reviving an old thread: Do any of these kits offer aerodynamic benefits; or are they all just for looks?
I know the splitter (carbon fiber AND cardboard) gives downforce, but what about just the lips?

There are a few "aerodynamic" kits out there that actually provide any aerodynamic benefits. The only way to tell if the kit provides positive or negative benefits would be with wind tunnel testing. I seriously doubt that 90% of the kits on the market have any wind tunnel. Now, lip kits are usually just extensions to the OEM body which has had extensive wind tunnel testing it's design. These lip kits, though, may not add any benefit. An OEM lip kit should, at the least, not damage airflow over the stock design. The front lip is going to act more like an air dam by directing some of the boundary layer area toward the sides of the car. This is not as efficient as an air splitter causing slightly more drag. The lip being smaller frontal area would provide only a minimal change.
The splitter does not actually create downforce. It promotes a better laminar airflow from the boundary layer of the airfoil (Bernoulli's principle), aka smooths out the air flowing across the car. Air is speed up under the car body making it a low pressure area. In turn, this increase the down force of the entire car. This is coupled with the adjustable down force of rear and front wings like in F1 and Indy car racing. This is why Chris Rado's Time Attack tC has that huge wing in front.

The goals for my car are performance first, show second. With that said, I do want it to look nice, and different from stock. I know body kits in general are purely for show (except a wide body kit, but I'm touchin those), so that's why I was thinkin about maybe a lip kit all the way around.
Any suggestions?
Also, I wouldn't really need canards or a splitter until I'm on the tracks, right? For daily driving, those would just decrease my MPG and ask to be run into curbs, yeah?

Anyone have any experience with the carbon fiber lip kits that are available? Let me know.

I would buy that, but doesn't interest me. I drive really careful over obstacles, and rarely scrap. I was taught to go at angles and one tire at a time. If I had a lowered suspension, then I would pick this mod up. NY roads aren't to kind to lowered whips, hence why my ride height is still OEM.

Just be glad you aren't here in the City of street canals. Even my big Tundra with 20" wheels has some problem driveways that Ihave to take at an angle. New Orleans has 3rd world standards for streets and 3rd grade city planners.

Yeah I hear what your saying. Most of our streets/highways are pretty level and smooth. Its the entrances/exits with some businesses and home residences that are more of a challenge. We also have some streets and certain areas on the highway that are in disrepair, very bumpy, uneven pavement and pot holes that could bend a rim or blow out a tire. I try to stray away from those problem stricken areas. I have had my tC for almost 3 yrs and I have only scraped the under side of my front lip twice, which was very minor and you can't see it.
