Default Any new TRD Supercharger info?

I last heard the TRD supercharger was due spring of '05. It is now heading into summer and no word yet? Anyone know what's going on?

There have been several rumors on the internet currently on the status of the supercharger. The most popular theory currently is that it is being delayed due to ecu problems and availability. According to my local dealership, the Scion manager has advised me that TRD, an independent company, is being taken over by Toyota Motor Corp themselves. Internet searches through business and general sources has revealed nothing if this is true. So short answer is that no one knows for sure about the status of the supercharger or its release date.

There have been several posts that have concurred with Alex8181's statement that Toyota Motor Sales have fully purchased Toyota Racing Development on other Scion forums. Originally TRD was just a subsidiary but now will be a part of TMS, according to people who claim to be employees of Toyota. Those same people are also saying the supercharger is being delayed due to problems with carb approval. Either way I wouldn't get my hopes up.

At this point why would anyone still want a TRD supercharger when there are companies offering turbo kits for the same price? You could prolly even build a custom setup for less.

Well, the reason I believe most people want the TRD supercharger is because it will be factory backed option, it will come with a warranty, and will be 50 state legal. There are currently no such turbo kits that can offer all that. So I will be keeping my fingers crossed.
