On a stock exhaust with nothing more than an s-pipe, I like the TRD. Check out the Greddy Ti-SUS and the Magnaflow.

Would you happen to know what the TRD exhaust would sound like with just an S-Pipe, I was thinking of doing that and want to know what it might sound like before I invest any money into it

Should just be slight bit louder, just an almost unperceptble amount. It is the cats that make the difference.

The cat-back is the better setup over the axle-back. It is a lil more work and requires you to put the car on a lift or crawl completely under it. It is also more expensive. So for cheap and easy, I say axle-back cause on a N/A, non-built car cause you're not going to have much difference between them. Sound is the more important difference at this level.

Do your homework. Start your research with Magnaflow.

Axle-back: Muffler section from the rear axle exhaust section back. Contains a muffler, tailpipe, piping, and flange.
Cat-back: There are 2 catergories here. The traditional is a split pipe with a resonator and axle-back that is clamped on the stock exhaust just after the last catalytic convertor. The stock pipe is cut-off here. The second type completely replaces the catalytic convertor by replacing all of the exhaust from the header or down-pipe back.

the closest you'll sound to a wrx exhaust is with the HKS exhaust with an HKS hi-flow cat. sounds pretty much like an sti, but i like it even better. my friend has a tc with the hks and hi-flow and it sounds really nice.

Unhappy Exhuast or no exhaust

well, i've had my scion tc for like a year now and i love it. i always wanted to "upgrade" my Tc with an exhaust but dont' want to buy a new header and mid pipe. So i decided on the Tanabe Concept G axle-back exhaust system for my car but was wondering if exhaust is even worth the money...any input would be nice
