Oh wow, I had forgotten I had even created a thread here about this. Just got an email about it.
If it puts peace of mind to anyone, I decided to go for a Subaru Impreza 2.5i after I did not like the tC that I had test driven. Also, I got a Blitz Nur Spec R for it, despite it not being the best choice in piping diameter for a non-turbocharged car. |

Mine dumps right under the passenger seat. It's right after the second cat.
You get a pretty good rumble feeling when it's open and the car is at high revs. Of course it's no problem to run 1 1/2 feet of exhaust pipe out the side, but i decided not to. |

The best usually are the customs. Go straight pipe from cat on back and top it off with a universal 3A Performance muffler that can be found at pepboys. The double wall resonated muffler will limit the "raspy" noise and provide a nice deep tone as well as a power boost. This is especially true if you have the massive resonator removed.

But not the best for performance. Our motors are street motors and do not have the cam profiles, nor compression to be running on a straight open exhaust with much in the way of more performance. This holds true for S/C as in N/A, but a turbo app is a different story. WOT would be all that you could do to keep your torque curve up. Remember, Back Pressure is not evil.

Hey guys, I'm new to the forums, I'm actually still driving my '02 WRX, but it's being sold, and having it replaced with a tC.
The way the two cars are set up are entirely different, but I sincerely dislike "loud and raspy" exhaust tones. I had the GReddy Evo-2 with a turbo-back set up, 2 resonators in the midpipe, and the tone was exactly what I loved. A super low, deep rumble, with good sound only at WOT. Thought he Boxer Flat-4 motor is certainly a contributor, I'm looking for the same effect on the tC. I'm getting a 08, any suggestions? Thanks in advance. |

its going to be extremely hard to get a tC to sound like a wrx. not totally sure, but you might want to check out youtube. they obviously make a greddy exhaust for thr tC but i personally love the megan. check it out on youtube.
