Default Help with Turbonetics turbo kit

Hi all, i need some help from people that have expiriance with turbos, especially the turbonetics kit for manual scion tc. I Had the kit put in around 3-4 weeks ago and all the sudden when i just recently turned the car on i have this check engine icon. For some reason i was getting boost and then in almost like missfired or something, and i lost the boost. After a while, when the car was not running the boost camed back and stuff, but the check engine icon still stays on, what could be the problem? the uni chip? sensor? I spoked to one person and he said it also has to do with a weather, that tubos can act up in a very humid sticky weather. Help please!

Most turbo kits will throw a CEL because you are deleting the catalytic converter that was in the header.
Go to autozone and get the code read, for free. And post up what it is.

My catalytic converter was not removed, but i discconected the battery, and connected it back after some time, the check engine sign went off, i figure it's some Uni chip problem

Your header is removed when a turbo is installed. You use the turbonetics manifold, and I dont think it comes with a cat in it.

The stock header has a cat in it.

He may be thinking of the seconary cat in the mid pipe which is where most cats are in a single cat system. Disconnecting the battery only serves to reset the ECU, not erase it. The codes are still stored in the EEPROM. These can only be erased by a scan tool. Once the ECU reintializes itself, those DTC's that still pertain will turn back to the active list and force a MIL.

Yeah he probably still has the second cat, but its after the o2 sensor, so would not change anything as far as throwing a CEL.

Yep, the primary cat is post Bank1Sensor1(A/F wideband) and pre Bank1Sensor2 (O2 narrowband). The O2 sensor is what causes the cell, as Nick06tC stated, because it measures the output of the primary cat and tells the ECM to make minor adjustments to compensate. The anti-fouler trick pulls the Bank1Sensor2 out of the exhaust stream causing it to read more to a normal position. This worked 100% of the time for me. Once I got my PLX wideband controller, I got rid of the anti-foulers so that it could read more accurately. It has yet to throw an O2 related DTC. When I get back Stateside, I plan on moving it to my O2 bung for dyno tuning in my new exhaust as it is closer to the header than the OEM location.
