i dont have a tc yet however i had the same problem with my current car and a cold air intake my car would rev and then stall... i talked to a technician that i know and he said i needed a throttle body cleaning but i took of my cold air intake and put it back to stock and realized that the problem is the intake it is sucking for cold air but it ends up sucking dirt in and the dirt goes right in there...my intake has no box around it so there was no way to prevent the dirt from going in there and the dirt caused my engine to want more gas and to rev....

1-Thanks NAvy life ill make sure

2-And thanks for posting, but the guy already said that resetting the ecu fixed it, make sure u did that too if you changed your intake. Also how da hell did you get dirt past the filter? Did your air filter have a hole in it? Or did you have ram air?

For SMC.... It sounds like either a MAF, coupler or a vacuum leak to me. It could be a combination of things like an aftermarket exhaust that creates better exhaust flow, but not enough to alter the ECU's active maps. The increased airflow across the MAF with a better flowing intake might just be more than the computer likes so it goes crazy trying to force the engine to run with what it knows. Luckily for us, Toyota's ECMs are learning computers. With a quick clear of the active maps, it is able to build off the stored factory maps and adjust to fit your engine's profile better. There is, however, only so much it can and is allowed to alter. A change in the stored maps or a piggyback controller would then be required.

Hey Speaking of resetting ECU's and how the toyota has a self learning ecu. Theres no harm in just disconnecting the battery and connecting it again right? I feel like resetting again just so the computer can learn right. i think last time i drove a bit hard after i resetted.

It also learns your driving habits and adjusts maps accordingly.
