Default Finally got my tC!

Well, my poor WRX has now been sold, and it's proceeds have been put down as a down payment on my new 2008 White Scion tC. Drove it around for around 50 miles so far, shifting out at 3k revs for the first 1,500 miles or so.

I guess the first order of business is a Megan Drift Spec cat-back.

Then springs, rear sway, and front strut.

And after that, LSD and S/C.

Any suggestions on which springs, sway and front tower strut? Just curious if other brands, but similarly spec springs/sways/struts will void the warranty that the TRD counter parts don't.

And on a side note, is it normal for the "burnt" clutch smell to be coming off for the first 100 miles or so?

Thanks in advance!

Yea the clutch is breakin in so u may get a lil smell
don't over rev and don't shift over 3k RPM
the clutch and flywheel have to mate
so between 500-1000 miles it will break in all the way
just take your time .. shift often at low RPM'z

hmm suspension .. i'd go with

- Hotchkis F&R Sway bars
- GReddy F&R Strut bars
- Tein SS Coilovers
- OR either Hotchkis or TRD lowering springs

since ur car is brand new you can keep your stoc struts
BUT if u want to be able to adjust the hight yo'll need some adjustible struts
preferably Tociko or Koni

- Enjoy your tC bro and Congrats !!

I'm sure I will.

A 2dr FF, will be an interesting change from my usual 4 door AWD turbo.

Still representing the 4 bangers though. =D

Will the Hotchkis F/R Sways and the GReddy F/R Strust void my warranty?

I know the TRD lowering springs wont, but I'm curious about non TRD brands.

No. If something went wrong, the Dealer has to prove that those parts were the problem.

Dealerships will do just about anything to void your warranty.

My buddy got his powertrain warranty voided on his LanEvo for installing a non Mitsu short shifter.

Madness, I tell ya.

The Dealers don't know squat and they will sell you so much hogwash it is like dealing with a used car salesman, "Fella. Have I got a deal for you!". You are legally safe. If the aftermarket part is DOT approved your golden, it is hard for the Dealer to make such claims against your parts. Even if it is not DOT approved, it still has to be proven that the part was to blame. The burden of proof is entirely upon them, not you. That is the law. It doesn't mean that it will not cause you grief.
