well that intake tube is just for the sound really, all it does is suck air out the wheel well as opposed to your engine bay when you remove it. remove it and listen to your engine, you wont wanna put it back. Now that carbon element was restrictive to your air flow and was causing less air to enter the engine. just take off that extra tube man, you could always put it back. its got 2 tabs that pop in, just pull one end off the air box, open your wheel well ( theres a screw u loosen above the wheel ) stick your hand in there and pull it out thru the wheel well. i couldnt get it to go thru the hole in the engine bay.

check it out, do as this dude said. Drill out holes on the bottom of the air box. WORKS AWESOME, althought my carbon fiber short ram is in the mail ...lol but yea if you guys wanna try it go right ahead. makes the tc sound like a beast. it changes your powerband to more power around 4-6k. smoked a 05 v6 accord today like nothing, we ran til about 100 and i just kept pullin on him. Also raced a v6 eclipse and was loosing on the take off but was gaining on his and bout to pass him and then the light turn red and i saw red and blue in my rearveiw, we got pulled over and let off wwith warnings and we were well over 115.

Does the sound come removing the Carbon Element of by removing the Tube? I understand removing CE has a better response, and the tube makes the noise, but did you have to take off the CE. Does it sound the same with it on?

After reading this the other day i decided to give it a shot. Took me a bout 15 min cuz i dropped the damn screw that connects the maf to the intake box and couldnt find it. Drove it around and definitely noticed slightly better response and louder intake sound. Pretty cool/cheap mod.

the only way your gonna get the carbon element out is by using a flat head screw driver to pry it out. Your pretty much going to have to break it, but dont worry cause it wont cause any adverse effects. I wouldnt remove the whole airbox cause then you wont have a filter unless you do what H. Series said to do.... let me know if you need any help.

this lag that you are talking about isn't all about the intake either... the tc im pretty sure is drive by wire which means instead of using a throttle cable its uses a sensor to control throttle. proof of this is easy... next time u drive around give it some gas then push in the clutch and if you look at your rpm's they will actually rise a bit then start to fall.

I drive an automatic, I totally agree with you on the lag of the drive by wire. I let my girlfriend drive my car the other day (yea I know dumb move lol) and she came back and asked me why my gas pedal is so damn sensitive. I told her it takes some getting used to. Thats all I can tell with my car that its drive by wire, you barely touch the gas pedal and the thing takes off. This mod does improve the lag though cause I could deff feel alot less when I did it.
