I track my mileage religiously and I get an average of 26 MPG. I have never been above 30 MPG. There are a bunch of things that can affect your mileage. Tire pressure, driving personality (hard accelerating, accelerating often, driving fast), traffic, winds, where you get your gas, then there are a few mechanical reasons like dirty air filter and other engine problems.
