Just hardned steel. It is more about the process used to produce them that makes them rock solid. Soulbane is right about the cams. With tuning, higher compression, and better flow exhaust, you could see 20WHP on an aggressive NA setup. Larger valves and porting might squeeze a few more out.

guess i should've asked if it could be done yourself (as maybe an all day project with a buddy) cuz it's just tedious, or if it's just more reasonable if u have no skills to just have a pro shop do it

All you have to remove is the valve cover and the timing chain tensioner. Very simple procedure.

....however....

The 2AZ-FE has solid bucket lifters so you will be alot of this.

I will try and post the procedure in the tech section. Unfortunately, I only seem to have the install directions. Removal should simply be the reverse.

Update.......

Just spoke with Dustin at Brian Crower. Expecting a call back today or tomorrow with actual specs, pricing, and availability!!!!

Etch-a-Sketch. Got it with my kids meal.
I just have the maintenance manual for the '07-up. I make up the difference on '05-'06 with personal experience.

Curious, what MAF did you replace it with; stock, one from a larger motor, from a Subie, or is it a modded one?
