2AZ-FE Performance Camshafts

Just talked to Dustin at Brian Crower Camshafts. The 2AZ-FE performance camshafts are a mere 2 weeks (possibly) out from being available for testing. No word on price or exact specs yet. According to Dustin, BC has the blank cores and will be built in small batches for forced induction, primarily turbo charged apps. One caveat is that you can have a custom grind easily produced. Yours truly will be looking at having a grind more applicable towards the TRD S/C. My plan is to have it dyno'd on a stock head first then on a built head.

Do you have any idea what size/deg they are?

I was looking for a staggered set up, not sure if they're gonna come in twin set ups or not.

I wonder how VVT-I responds to bigger, more aggressive cams.

I know V-TEC respons to them very well.

educate me please...

are performance cams for F/I only? would it be pointless to put peformance cams in w/o F/I? do you have to do anything else internally when adding cams?

No, performance cams are not F/I only, but the amount that your vehicle benefits from a cam upgrade has largely to do with the volume of intake/exhaust your engine moves.

You don't need to do anything to the motor internally with camshaft upgrades, you're just replacing the OEM cams.

TBITB, nothing changes, no matter what additional mods come out in the future, they're not going to be as relevant, until you (and me too) get "IT"

Cam upgrades are 100% dead sexy though, with VVT-I it'll be interesting to see how the car responds, you'll also be able to push your redline about 200-250 RPMS.

Well, from what Navy posted, these cams are going to be specifically for turbo applications.

So I suspect they're going to be 264 and 272 sized. Which doesn't bother me.

A boosted tC with 272/272 I/E cam profile would really make for some interesting VVT-I.
