Default Installing Autometer Mechanical Gauges

Has anyone installed the mechanical water temp and/or oil pressure gauges? I have only used electrical gauges before but i got these for a great price so im hoping to figure this out this weekend while the weather is nice

It should be the same except that with a mechanical guage you don't have to have a power source (unless you want to have it light up of course).

You'll still have to tap into an oil/water coolant sender, if not in the block itself.

Another disadvantage of the mechanical guage is that the "conduit/raceway" (I'm in the electrical business ha ha) actually carries the material/component/liquid to the guage inside the car. This DOES then in turn increase the likelyhood of creating a leak inside the cabin of your car.

Electrical obviously only carries a wire. Something to think about.

Other than that, they're pretty much the same as far as the installation goes. Hope that helped.

Sorry, I was thinking of something more constructive, but it wouldn't come out. Bad experience with mechanical gauges.

Yep. Been there, done that. Nothing like black gold (now purple) running all over your leg while in a turn
