Question Interchangeable Cylinder heads?

Hey guys, Im new to the club and I'm currently deployed in Iraq. But my question is...Are older model 2.4L engines compatible with our scion engine. I noticed they have the same displacement but I dont know if the internals are different. I want to buy a cylinder head online but only older model toyota heads show up. Im planning on working on the cylinder head I purchase and once I do all the valvetrain work its going on the scion. I've worked alot with mitsu's and I just started with toyo's so I'm still learning about whats interchaneable.

Hmm, not sure. What 2.4L exactly are you thinking about? What matters is the engine code. Toyota has used the 2AZ-FE for several years now. As far as I know, all the 2AZ-FE motors are VVT-i. I will check with Kenny once he is back from racing tomorrow.

Best of luck to you over there in the Sand Box. I just transfered back to the Reserves and if my business doesn't work out, I might be joining you over there.
