really ?? the one i just read says it puts out about 2.7 hp for every pound of weight released off of the crankshaft lol .. i dunno .. sumthin sounds fishy .. i guess we need a dead stock tC with only the crank pulley installed and dyno it to see wat the real deal is

One thing to note is the lightweight pulley (or anything else) does not make power. They only recover wasted energy utilized to move the heavier components. But in the end, it still more for the butt dyno!!!

Any HP increase whether created or recovered is always going to give your ride greater potential on getting down the track. Yes, this is probably the cheapest, easiest, and most notcible mod.

Hi fellas, my friend wants to pick up a new Scion tC. But her first questions are what is there to do to increase the power? I saw a GReddy turbo kit pushing around 300 hp? I know of the trd supercharger, and compatible intakes and exhausts. She wants to achieve 400 hp if possible. And she just told me she also wants a stage 3 turbo, which i think she lost her mind or its not possible (unless she spends years of development lol).
Thanks for your help guys. Sorry if this isnt in the right thread.

Btw I dont have a tC, just want to help a friend out. I got a IS350. dont boot me im in the Toyota family!!! lol

We won't boot cha, we will just beat cha

My GF and I almost bought an IS350 but opted for the Camry SE till her kids are older.

She can make 400HP with an all out turbo setup but the motor won't last very long. The motor needs to be fully built. A minimum would be forged pistons and strongly think about rods. A ported and flow matched head w/ bigger valves is next on the list. Larger injectors, high flow fuel pump, return fuel system w/ fuel press regulator, and full e-manage are a must. Tell her to stick with 300HP that is streetable, beat the pants off most cars, and get an LSD.

Thanks Navy. Ill let her know her dream will be short lived when the motor blows lol. 300hp sounds good enough.

My IS350 is fun, planning on boosting it too . Thanks for your help!

well i read an article in import tuner where a girl was trying to achieve that much power and ended up blowing her stock engine first then she had to buy a new engine and start all over. the only way she was even able to achieve up three hundred whp was to drop like 15 grand. from what the article was saying was that it took alot of specific special work like port and polish and changing alot of stock internals.

Really? I thought the GReddy turbo setup gives the 300hp(or have i heard wrong?) mark, without dropping 150 benjamins.

it offers 300 hp but it's not three hundred whp big difference. it's like a stock sti. my best friend has an 07 and they are rated at around three hundred hp but when we dynoed it it only put down like 230 or 240. I forgot to add though that part of that 15 grand was put into the looks to. i think it was more like 8 or 9 that was put into the engine.

Yeah I forgot that whp is what counts. So my friend will epxect a 10-25% power loss through the transmission I suppose.

ZPI has a Staged turbo kit that can get you reliably (well as reliable as turbos can get) to 300WHP. They have been running them successfully for a couple of years now.

In quoting what Hotrice said about the girl w/ the blown motor. That is why Kenny Tran of Jotech recommends spending the money up front to build the motor for that much power. It is way cheaper than having to buy a crate motor then pay for all the upgrades ontop of that. Start right from the get go. That is why I am going to drop a fully built motor after I get to 300WHP w/ my TRD.

thats the bad thing that alot of us don't think about. we think that we can just slap a turbo on something and run the crap out of it then bang snap and your left with a big ass paper weight. you have to rember if your going to turbo it you better get it ready. it's like making love to a woman. you can't just get her and jump right in. you have to warm her up get her ready. chances are good she'll stick around alot longer.

Navy is right about ZPI. They make a lot of products that have been tested for a while now. They have just about everything that you will need to upgrade that tC to push over 300. Here is the link to there website so you can take a look at there products.

We'll see. I know that Karl's tC was tweaked by Ripp Modds to 311WHP. They did som head work and experimented w/ regrinding the camshaft profiles. My goal is to make it to 300WHP w/o all that, letting the TRD do most of the work. Once I get to that point, then some head work and camshafts are going into the mix. Then it is time to pull the motor and tighten up the bottom end. I plan on uping the bore diameter and increasing the compression from 9.6:1 to about 10.5:1 and adding a sub injector.
