Default Why did toyota discontinue the celica gts?

i was wondering, if anybody knew why toyota discontinued the celica gts?...i have a 1984 celica myself ( my father handed it down to me) and i love that car...im planning to buy a new car and im sure that im going to buy a toyota/scion, but besides the tC what other car has potential...?

they discontinued it probably cuz of the introduction of Scion - and the marketing of the corolla, matrix, and yaris. the market shifted away from the celica and it was time to change with the flow of that market. every company phases out one car in favor of another one... look at the acura integra --- rsx --- new Si and tsx

yea, i suppose you right...so besides the tC what other toyota/scion cars have racing potential?...im planning to get a new car by the end of this year...it would be nice to hear some input from everyone....most likely i will end up getting a tC...just curious, what type of engine does the scion xD have, and does it have racing potential, and have they developed a good variety of aftermarket parrts?

the matrix on the AWD platform (boost available aftermarket)

the yaris (im pretty sure there are boost applications for this too)

xD 1.8L 128hp stock (i think a Garret trubo is available)

if boost is available for these cars, im sure everything else is - clutch, brakes, suspension, etc...

i like the choice of the xD other than the tC

the tC is basically the only one with racing potential in mind. We share the engine with the 2nd gen xB, so there are opportunities there as well. As far as the AWD matrix that would be my next choice because of the AWD and available boost.

and i also have another question...for a tC what would be best recommended a turbo or sc?...and what set up would best work for either of them...(assuming one has the money and could care less about the warranty)
Has anyone seen a moded xD?...how man y horsepower can that engine take? what about the tC engine how many HP can it withstand?

First of all for your I/H/E question.
I had the injen intake, weapon-r headers, and magnaflow exhaust. It gives a great sound thats not to loud at all, and gives a decent performance increase.
You can listen to my setup here YouTube - Scion tC Weapon-R Headers and Magnaflow Exhaust. I like it because it has little to no rasp, and is quiet.

As for the Turbo vs S/C question it is all up to you. There are numerous threads on this subject. But if you want power right off the bat go turbo. But if you want the warranty, want to be different, or want a nice project like me go with the S/C. In my opinion the S/C is more reliable too.

The tC can take a crap load of power without upgrading the internals. ac3 boogi3 has around 300bhp and hasent touched his internals yet. I think someone put 311whp on stock internals. The 2az-fe is a great engine and a great tuning platform.

The answer to this question is the mr2 spyder killed the celica market and when scion introduced the tc the tc killed both of them. Besides that, b4 the tc came out toyota sold the the 1.8 vvtli engine to lotus so that they can put it in the elise and exige. In 2011 I believe the new ae86 mite b coming out or the new supra or its possible that the celica will make its return but chances r not really good
