Default Short Shifter: TRD vs. TWM

I was told that the TRD short shifter was the way to go but I also hear that the TWM shifter is just as nice if not better. So what do most of you guys have or prefer? Any help would be great so I can narrow it down. Thanks!

Perrin.Adjustable height and throw. I like it because I can maintain near the stock height and reduce the throw by 25%, which is all you really need (any more than that and you will have issues). The Stock height is important because it keeps the distance from stick to wheel at a minimum. This increases shift precision, further reducing shift time [overall elapsed time with the full process: hand off wheel onto stick, clutch in, gear to neutral, neutral to gear, hand of stick onto wheel*/clutch out* (*simultaneous)].

Default Short throw shifter

I'm looking to install a short throw on my car, any suggestions will help, I was looking at the one from TRD, is that one any good or should I look elsewhere?

It is OK. I would not say it is the shortest throw. I run into a problem with banging my elbow into the center console on 2nd/4th gears if I don't keep my elbow up. Sort of like in archery with rotating your elbow away from the bow string. On very quick shifts, you may find yourself out of measure with the long clutch throes rewarding you with grinding gears. A quick seat adjustment forward gives about an 85% improvement over that. I am actually going to heat/bend mine to an angle a little towards my right knee. This will alleviate the center console problem and put the geometry in better alignment for my shifting ergonomics.

**My Engrish Sensei would be so proud of me using all of these big words!!**

So would you say its a decent short throw shifter for a daily driver? The stock throws are way too long for my liking, I'm just looking for anything shorter at this point.

TRD is suppost to be easiest install (comes with new cage) there are other's out there TWM is 2.5 drop with 30% reduction, Dr isotope makes custom one's up 3" drop or none at all 40 to 50% throw reduction(Scionlife and YSTC guy's say it's best) Megan, creative concepts. Also many companies make shifter base bushings and cable bushings which are suppost make less mushy more crisp shifts. Base bushing go underneath the shifter cage, and cable bushing replace rubber bushing come off transmission shifter cables...

Not a problem for me. I drive with one hand on the wheel and one on the shifter. Torque steer make this style of driving problematic and takes a deft hand. This is especially true when braking corners at high-speed and on the power out. That is why I am going to R&D a bend in my shifter arm to bring it closer to the wheel. I will post my findings.

My only issue with the TRD was the price. way over priced. but it is a complete new cage and everything unlike most aftermarket. deffinetly wish it was a shorter throw, but its not bad.

I believe the TRD has enough thread on it to cut a half inch or so off to lower it a lil.
