yes it does, but for some reason it doesnt hit like v-tech, next time you drive after reach this, drive your car, and when you are in 2nd gear around 2 grand, punch it, and feel closly around 4 grand, you'll feel it, but it is the same type of technology, hopefully they come out with something for vvt-i like they did for v-tech's hondata

As punchy, negative.
Honda's VTEC was one of the first MODERN (Studebaker did it in the 30's) companies to employ the technology. Its great for gas mileage. Because while its on the "choke" side of it, when it opens up into the VTEC range, why theres such a drastic increase in punch. Amazing how letting an engine breathe right can make it seem to have that famous Honda punch. BTW check out a VVT-i controller, you can play with it a bit to suit more to what your doing.

Well i push it hard all the time, and never acctually felt any sudden jump in RPMs, nothing like Vtec anyways, i guess the crossover isnt as abrubt as that of a b-series engine, i miss that, but i love my scion now

but if you think about it, this car has been out since 04'..... the market that has grew on parts and performance is outrageous, i wouldnt doubt that there will be just as much or double of what you can do to these in the next few years, i already heard they come out with the 3.0 version engine for 07' now hows that for a swap

VVT-I works on the intake valve only to change camshaft timing. The VVTL-I works on the intake cam changing duration and lift.
