    Exclamation Axis Wheels

Warning: If you buy wheels from Axis Wheels, they only carry +35mm across all of their inventory, no matter what width. Unless your running rubber bands or going with a wide body kit, you will not be able to lower your tC with an 8.5" wide rim at all. You will not be able to run anything wider than the recommended tire width of 225/40 with an 8" wide rim.

The tC has a stock offset of +45mm on a 17x7 rim. For an 18x8 rim, +42mm works best. Run an 18x8.5 and you will fit snugly with a +40mm offset. Axis states that they run the +35mm offset to provide the widest stance. On the 8.5" rim, the +35mm offset just so happens to fit if you run a smaller than recommended 215/40 tire, you don't lower your tC, or if leave the rear with high negative camber (to clear the lip) when you do lower it. With an 18x8.5 wide rim, even the Axis recommended 225/40 is a size too small. What is the point of the added weight of a wider rim if you have to run a small tire? It further appears that these rims are sold for the tC as they just seem to fit is that the wheels require hub adapters.

Needless to say, I am having a fitment problem. Several calls to and 2 failed return calls later, Axis is pretty much telling me to bugger-off. I can either jack my car back up, run mucho negative camber (destroyed tires), cut out my fender lips, or run a smaller tire. None of these are options that I choose to follow. Problem for them is my vendor asked these 3 questions (at my request) to them: 1. Will these wheels fit the tC? 2. What size tire to run? 3. Are there any fitment issues running this setup on a lowered tC up to 2" drop.

That sucks man. Axis has some nice whels too!

So I assume that you'll find a different set of wheels now?

Total pain, but yes, new wheels. Axis is about to meet my lawyer. No offense guys but I guess that they don't realize that a 39 year old ain't gonna take it and has the capacity to take action. It's a shame too, I really like those wheels.

But technically can't they can say "the bolt pattern fits your car" & the time honored classic phrase "for show & off-road use only." Plus as a bonus they'll probably throw in "you shouldn't have lowered/modified your suspension."

If you do go after them, take caution. Don't waste your time and money. Be smart and know when to cut your losses. I'm sure there's many other people willing to take the wheels off your hands...

...but since they don't fit the tC I can't be one of them

Oh, they will fit, as long as, you run mucho negative camber, small tires, an stock ride height. Maybe I will just jack my car up and go DUB style.

18x8.5 +35mm Super Hiros painted with a blue accent ring. The offset needs to be a minimum of +40mm on an 8.5" wheel. The 18x8 on a +35mm just barely get you the clearance. Lowering the vehicle is not the problem. The problem is if you correct the excessive negative camber on the rears.

Oh yeah.... One car wash and the blue accent paint flaked!

thanks for the heads up..I was looking at the deep lip axis penta wheels but if you can't adjust the negative camber in the rear than you are just going to be running through tires left and right.
